Re: Where to find Mother of Bride gown?

Hi - I've been that route 3 times already. There are lots of places to go and lots of threads on this site recommending different stores. You can start a search and you'll get lots of advice.

I bought my gowns at The Elegant Bride on Willis Ave, Lord and Taylor Designer gown department in the city, and Bridal Couture in Cold Springs Harbor. I must have been to every salon on LI though. I made myself crazy and it was not necessary!
There are websites where she can do a lot of looking from home and get an idea of designers she likes. Jovani (under $1,000) and Mon cheri (a few hundred, if I remember correctly) are well known and available all around LI. Designer gowns like Rose Taft are much more expensive and in select shops only. If you've looked at gowns for yourself, you know it's the fabric that determines the price.

Macy's bridal in Manhasset and Lake Grove both have a large selection and I walked in without an appt. It may be a good place to start. I didn't feel pressured at all there.

Tell me more and I can help you further. Where does she want to shop and does she know her approximate price range? Then I can make specific suggestions.

Good luck!

Re: Where to find Mother of Bride gown?

The first dress I bought for my daughter's wedding was at Bridal Reflections in Massapequa. I thought they had a good selection. However, the dress came in in the wrong color and 2 months before the wedding I had to find another dress, at that point Bridal Reflections just refunded my money because they couldn't accomodate me with another dress----disappointing.
I started a search and was lucky enoug to have someone recommend 'My Daugher's Wedding' in Great Neck---outstanding!!!! A huge selection, perfect alterations, and so very helpful---I highly recommend that you look there. They are located on Middle Neck Road. If I am ever looking again, I will only go there.

Re: Where to find Mother of Bride gown?

My mom got her dress for my sister's wedding at Boutique Elle in Woodbury Commons in Woodbury. We also passed by another boutique in Woodbury Commons that had many dresses. It was in the upper portion of Woodbury Commons, kind of across from Starbuck's. Good luck, hope you find something amazing.
