Blue theme Ideas - Updated

Hi!

I'm trying to figure out my color theme. My BM and I all like this Ice Blue/Sky Blue dress (See Picture below)

I originally wanted a red or burgendy theme since the wedding is in Sept but the dress does not look as nice in red so I was wondering:

What type of flowers do I need to get to go with this type of blue colored dress?
Do I even need to have blue in the flowers? Will it be weird to have red roses??
Does anyone have any pictures of bridal parties with this type of color?

I think blue or blue and white hydrangia (sp?) will look great.

i'm having the same problem, my girls dresses are blue and black. I hhave no idea what flowers to use.

i'm having the below dresses, a med. slate blue (see second photo for color on model). the photo has the same BM dresses and color at another bride's wedding. the flowers i choose are white and cream, with gardenias in my bo-k.

My BM dresses are navy blue. Rather than try for blue flowers, which I'm just not a big fan of, I went with a contrast of pale pale pink and ivory. I can post pics for you in 89 days

and here the wedding dress i have on two other gals with different flowers, so you can get maybe an idea of blue and white with different floral colors....

Might sound weird but yellow flowers...My sister had a darker blue, Ver wang dresses with yellow roses. Looked awesome!
You can try a pale yellow

i'm doing a navy theme with cream roses. my bouquet is also going to have bits of delphinium in it which is a small blue flower or maybe hydrangea too

I am using the same BM dress also. I think my plan is to keep the flowers failry simple -- blue and white. I am meeting with a florist on saturday... I'll let you know what she thinks.

This is cool....

Bouquet Bow & Button How-To

You will need 1-inch-wide silk moiré ribbon, needle and thread, scissors, a covered-button kit, raw silk, a fabric pen, and a glue gun.

1. Cut a piece of ribbon 8 inches long.

2. Make a loop with ends meeting in the middle at the back. Pinch at the center, and stitch to secure, forming a bow shape.

3. Repeat steps 1 and 2 to make a second bow shape, then stitch the two together at their centers.

4. Cut two more pieces of ribbon 4 inches long. Pinch and sew together at tops, as shown. Cut notches at bottoms.

5. Using the template from the covered button kit, decide what size your monogram will be (ours is about 1 1/4 inches in diameter). Draw or trace a monogram onto a square of raw silk with a fabric pen. Chain-stitch monogram with metallic thread, using embroidery hoop, if desired. Cut fabric to size according to the kit*s template, centering the monogram; follow kit's directions to create button.

6. Glue strand of bugle beads (they come prestrung) around button's edge with fabric glue.

7. Stitch bow tails to bow loops. Hot-glue button on last. Have florist create a tailored ribbon wrap for the bouquet handle, and pin bow in place with several straight pins.

What about lavendar with whites/creams? Or a deep purple? Or maybe a deep burgundy if you want a little red in them??

i got the same ribbon in the colors shown for my bo-k, just with a V and 21 May 2005.
