Re: Any thoughts on Middle Island??
I believe it has good and not so good parts to it. A friend of mine lives in MI and I find his block to be in the not so good part. The school district is Longwood which has it's problems. I would reccommend you really look into the surrounding areas of any house you are interested in in MI. JMO

Re: Any thoughts on Middle Island??
I live in Middle Island...on the border of Ridge in a development called 'The Preserves' - I love it here...it's very country-ish and I have a beautiful house with no backyard neighbors - just miles of preserve land...BUT there is a shady area called Gordon Heights that is part Coram part Middle Island. Fortunately I live far away from that so it doesn't effect me at all.As far as the school district is concerned...speaking to my neighbors...it's up and coming now. THe high school looks like a college campus and they just won Math state champs...I think more and more younger couples are moving to the area....I have great neighbors with tons of small children.
Just my 2 cents.. Good luck in your search!

Re: Any thoughts on Middle Island??
Hit and Miss. It depends on where the house is. I would look around the specific neighborhood you see a house. There are some nice areas with relatively new houses.

Yes! I believe the aprt where my friend lives is in or near Gordon Heights. It's a very shady area when you drive to get to his house.

Re: Any thoughts on Middle Island??
thanks for the feedback...I've seen some really pretty homes, (some new construct.) with fairly large sized lots, and I kinda figured the areas probably were hit or miss, because the prices are just too good to be true.

Re: Any thoughts on Middle Island??
I have subbed in the school district for 6 years. There is a neighborhood called Gordon Heights that is not really that great. So in the school you have a mix of kids. I never had any problems. It is basically a good school and Middle Island itself is basically nice.

Re: Any thoughts on Middle Island??
Middle Island is fine- it's just the school district. 2 of my friends went there- a female and a male. The female said there were no problems and she did well, going onto a great college and law school. The male said it was a little scary and wasn't that great of a school. The female's brother went to private school.
Anyway, another town you can look at if you're going that far east is Miller Place and Sound Beach. They are both in Miller Place school district (usually) which is a good one.
