question about rehersal dinner please help

question about rehersal dinner please help

My rehersal date is set for may 26th at 7:30pm which is a thursday night. The problem is that the next day people have to work. it there a rule that says you cant have the rehersal dinner the day after the rehersal? is that cheesy or is it supposed to be the day of the rehersal. If thats the case then i have to see if i can move my rehersal time up to 6:30 that way we can be done by at least 8pm and then go eat. please let me know ur opinions.

I think it would be odd to have the dinner the day after the rehearsal. To me it is done because everyone is already gathered together to rehearse, and having it on two separate days defeats the purpose of that...But if everyone is willing to commit to two nights, go for it...

Everything changes so much that I think you can do what you'd like. There's nothing that states that everything has to be done all at once.

I also think it would be a little weird to have the dinner the next night.

I've been to rehersal dinners on a thursday night...they started early (like you said 6:30) and we were eating by I would say by 8:30...depending on the place and amount of people attending.

We got stuck with a later rehearsal slot (8:00) so we did dinner before the rehearsal. It worked out pretty well, we had dinner at 5:30 (really sat down at 6 since we had a few late arrivals) and those who had to go to work the next day didn't get home too late. It also worked out cheaper, because people didn't drink as much I think as they would have if we had it after the rehearsal

You can have your rehearsal dinner whenever you'd like. My cousin had a BIG dinner the week before because it was better for everyone.

I think this is a great idea!! I recently went to a rehearsal dinner on a thursday night. We left the church at 8:30, dinner at 9 and we left the restaurant at 11!!!! I was a bit annoyed we left so late, because I had to work the next day. I think dinner before the rehearsal is the best idea!!

yea my church is giving us the option.. we can either have it on the day before our wedding (a thursday) or we can have it the friday before(a week before the wedding) I am undecided on what to do yet

There are no rules - do what works for you. We are not even having a rehearsal, but we are still having a dinner. It's not about the rehearsal as much as it is about getting the families and BP together before the big day.

If I were you I would do it the weekend before so there isn't as much stress on your shoulders and everyone can enjoy themselves more at the RD. We had ours the weeknd before and it was a great decision.
