Think about baby's b-day before TTC?
Preface this by saying... Not TTC yet and I would be happy with a baby born in ANY month as long as he/she is healthy, but I was talking to DH the other day in passing and I mentioned I wanted to try to avoid our childs birthday being in August. DH told me that was pretty stupid, but I am concerned that August is a big vacation month and I don't want to be in labor and hear that my physician is off on vacation and have a resident deliver our child. Is this crazy? Did anyone else think about birthdays when TTC?

Re: Think about baby's b-day before TTC?
DH and I didn't really think about the dates all that much. Our only concern was that the baby wouldn't be born on or around our scheduled date to return to the States. It worked out well for us because I am due on 4/1 and we are returning to the US on 6/1.

Re: Think about baby's b-day before TTC?
we thought about it....we have a lot of b-days in July and Sept in our families....turns out, we aer due around 7/13...the day after my sis and the day before my stepmom. But, we also thought about being that far PG down here in GA with the super hot summers....but I told DH I didn't care...I didn't want to wait 6 months to start TTC jsut so we could avoid some discomfort....

Re: Think about baby's b-day before TTC?
I won't be TTC for a while... But I'm hoping that it will work out that the baby's b-day will be around late late march/early april. I'm a teacher and that would make it so that i would have maternity leave through the end of the school year, and then still have summer before having to go back to work.If I won't be working (which is ideal) then sometime in mid-summer so i won't have to miss the end of school.
FH always makes fun of me and my schedules (i just blame it on being a virgo)

Re: Think about baby's b-day before TTC?
When we first started TTC - I really didn't want to have the baby in Nov/Dec since my DH's sister 3 out of 4 kids are born then - plus it will interfere with the holidays. But after 8 months of trying - the baby's b-day is the least of my worries.

Re: Think about baby's b-day before TTC?
i've thought about this too. glad i'm not the only one. i don't want my kids to be born in oct, nov, dec. i just don't like how they'd be so much younger than their classmates, plus your birthday ends up getting lost in the shuffle of the holidays. but if it turns out that way, then that's how it turns out!

Re: Think about baby's b-day before TTC?
I never thought about this but I know many people who try to plan based on work schedules (esp teachers) or months they like for a b-day or horoscope signs. To each their own, right?

Re: Think about baby's b-day before TTC?
I always think about that, we are getting married in October and will start TTC in January which will bring us to October. We just realized that if we do it that way we will hopefully have a baby for our anniversary. What a special anniversary gift! Its so far away but I can't wait.

Re: Think about baby's b-day before TTC?
We will either get an anniversay present (2/29ish) or my bday present...3/17~baby due 3/15. Never really cared about the dates, but I am going to try and get it induced on my bday if it comes down to it (liek I would really get a choice!!! Lol...)...I am a St. Patrick's Day baby and my DH said I can name it the names I want (Jack RYan or Colleen) if it's on that day!

Re: Think about baby's b-day before TTC?
Obviously, when we start to TTC, my main concern will be that we have no complications, and we are able to have a healthy baby.I am one of them however who think of the babies sign. LOL. On top of that, my b-day is in Dec. and DH is in Jan. so, I really wouldn't want the baby's b-day to be then, the holidays, etc... if it happens, I'll be thrilled beyond imagine either way.

i'm an untenured teacher, so i do think about it, but when it happens, i know it will be the right time, so i guess i won't be too picky.

I am the same, at first I cared...now I will take any month I can get!
When we first started trying, I didn't want to get pregnant in March because the baby would be due in December (my b-day, my brother, and my mom are all in December plus Christmas)
Now, I don't care when the baby will be due, after 13 months of trying I DON'T CARE ANYMORE!!!

Re: Think about baby's b-day before TTC?
We thought about it since we live in Florida. My wish was to have the baby right before the summer so I wouldn't be in my last months during the brutal heat. Also if that worked then I would be midway by Christmas which we knew we would have to travel for and I wanted to be in my 2nd trimester and showing just enough to get everyone excitied. We also joked about how it would be a great gift to find out we were pregnant on our 2nd anniversary and most of with Dh's job we wanted to *Try* to time it that he would be home for L&D.It seems to be working out..
Found out we were pregnant in Septemeber right around our anniversary and after the summer! I should be around 19 weeks when we travel for the holidays and we will find out Dh's deployment soon but hopefully it should be right after Christmas and he will be home for the baby in May right as it's starting to heat up down here!
We also thought it would be funny to get pregnant on Labor Day and well it worked! lol
