HELP! DH is SET on a boys name that I don't know if I like...

I know it's SUPER early to be thinking of names...but he's stuck on this one name that he says he's wanted forever....after his favorite baseball player.... Tell me what you think...

Ryne (pronounced Rhine, as in Rhino) the only meaning I found was that it is Welsh and means A Ruler.

Where did he hear that Shana? Its not bad, just different. (I have heard worse...LOL) When you say it out loud with your last name, how does it sound?

I always used the 'I am the one carrying this baby around for nine months so I have final say' line If you don't like it it he needs to come up with another name. Try and find one you both like.

he's loved that name forever! It doesn't sound bad with our last name...Feggeler and I think it's a cool name, but I know it'll be mispronounced as Ryan. A friend of mines' brother (13 yrs old) is named that

I feel that you both need to like the name. Scott was trying to get me to chose Brady as a boy's name after Tom Brady the quarterback and I just said No...I don't like it. Personally I think Rhino is not a great boy's name but if you both like it then you should name your son what you like.

I actually like it Shana...it's different and I love names that are different but you both should love the name not just one of you.....I'm sure in time you will both find one that you both love.

I like it too...I think it's a cool and different name...I'm all for unique names...look at my name! I just didn't know how dead set he was on naming a boy this....I'm just not in love with it yet...maybe with the right middle name

You both have to agree on a name or its out. Thats how we did it.

You both should definitely agree on the name you choose. If anything, maybe you can compromise, and have it as the middle name, and choose another you both like as the 1st... ??

I agree with the above. I feel like Ryne could be a tough name for a boy. Maybe some teasing from other kids and some mispronoucing. Could you do it as a girls name? What about Ryan? That is a really nice name for a boy....

No matter what neame you choose, there will always be someone who will love it or hate it (even if they dont tell you) so the most important thing is that you like it.

When you say that you know people will mistake it for Ryan - do you care? will it bother you to always correct people? Will it be a burden to him to always spell his name and correct people? Some people this would bother and some it wouldnt so think of that.

Also - Ryne as in Rhino - kids will come up with a way to make fun of a name, any name so I wouldnt worry about that. And who knows, maybe all the girls in school will be saying 'Ryne is soooooo fine'

It's a cute name. It's not my taste personally but not because it's an ugly name. It sounds nice and looks nice on paper.

I think as long as you both like it, you should go for it.

not yet...but we have been discussing names and DH loves this name,

Ryan is not an option.....he wants to name a boy (if it's a boy) after Ryne Sandberg of Chicago Cubs, future hall of famer

I agree with everyone else - you both have to love the name - I happen to like it - as someone else said - it looks good on paper.
Who knows by the end of your term you might really love the name!

I think its a nice name too actually and I like how Liz said, it looks good on paper

but I dont know if Id want to name my child after a sports star of any kind
There are so many more important people in our lives. (Sorry,my honest opinion)
But definately a possibility for a middle name
