Why did you pick your reception place?/PICS
You'll have to excuse me, as I'm still sick, so I have nothing else to do except watch TV and make you all read my posts! Anyway... I picked George Washington Manor b/c I'm not the type of person who likes big places. My wedding is fairly small (about 100, maybe a little under), and I wanted a small place with some history to it. GW Manor opened in 1740, so that's a sufficient amount of history, lol. I love the style of the place, it just fits me perfectly. From the moment I got engaged, I knew that's where I'd be getting married.Good ol' George.... lol, sorry, couldnt help it. I'm cracking myself up over here.

((ill add pics later when Im on my other computer))

We picked Daylight Studios b/c we wanted something different. We did not want a traditional reception hall, so we settled for a loft. The loft we were able to decorate it the way we've like. We especially liked it b/c the entire loft was pure white and the scenery from the window was outstanding. Our wedding colors went great with the decor. shutterfly

We picked the Riviera b/c we also wanted something different. We also wanted somewhere that none of our friends got married. We absolutely love the 'home' feeling of the Riviera and the view.

I picked Ariana...the place is just beautiful and I love waterfalls. I like it even more that there's only one wedding at a time there. The most important thing...they have packages for people ona tight budget.

We picked The Crescent after seeing 18 halls. I wanted something a little different and it had to be one wedding at a time. Since DH is Catholic and I'm Jewish, we needed someplace with an amazing place for the ceremony and the beach at sunset was PERFECT!!!

We picked The Bourne Mansion because it was the only place we went to and said, 'WOW.' It's not a catering hall and it has some history to it. It was the President of Singer Sewing Machines summer home and later became La Salle Military Academy, now it's part of St. John's University.

* They offer six (6) choice of entrees to our guests: Veal, Sea Bass Mediterranean, Chicken Boscaiola, Eggplant Parmigiana, Filet Mignon, or Muscovy Duck Chambord. All guests including ourselves can choose their entrées on the day of the wedding rather than having to write it on their RSVP card which is good because people can always change their mind about food. What if you’re not in the mood for eggplant on the day of the wedding but were in the mood a month ago?* Our reception site has a reputable history that was built to serve as a summer residence of legendary actor Rudolph Valentino until his death in 1926 and later purchased by Former Mayor Fiorello LaGuardia as a summer Gracie Mansion. It then was transformed into a restaurant after Mayor LaGuardia’s death.

We went with The Estate at East Wind... When you pull up to East Wind itself, it is really impressive...walking into the hall, you feel like you are in a fairytale...The choice of food is amazing and they were willing to throw some extras in...We were flexible with the date and in return, they were flexible with the price!!

welp we picked the Westbury Manor because I love the scotto brothers food, My stepsister and brother got married at the fox hollow and I would have to but they were booked for all of next yr they told me, so I went to the Westbury Manor on a sunday and watched how they set up for 2 weddings and how organized they were, then after speaking with the BM we were convinced this was the place for us, we love old mansions and the country victorian look and after the tour and the choices- a 7 choice menu we thought was great, having a seafood boat and maritni bar options were great as well since our family will make good use of both. I felt for the vegetarians the 7 choice was perfect since they have a vegetarian option. I also love the convenience for our OOT guest our church and hall are literally 2 minutes from one another well maybe 5 lol, these were all important factors for us , we met the chef he is really nice and overall we loved the ambiance the place gave off. I cant wait!!!! April hurry hurry!!!

FH is alumni of the Merchant Marine Academy so when we decided to get married there it made sense because they have a chapel and hall. we can also have the Navy chaplain marry us that's at his current command. the hall or Officer's Club, is right on the water, with a view of the LI Sound, outdoor patio for the cocktail hour, about 100yds from the chapel, and great service for a reasonable price by LI standards.

Getting married at USMMA too! FH and I met working at a catering hall, and wanted something a little different. We liked that we could still get married in a church but on the same grounds as our reception. The view in the dining room is awesome, 2 bridges and the skyline.

I am having my pictures taken at the Crest Hollow. I'm sure your catering hall (if it is a big enough place) will let you have it there. The Crest Hollow is beautiful, so we decided to just take them there. But my sisters had their's taken at EAB Plaza.

We picked the Carlye after going to 12 other halls. FH loves golf and this is right on the course that they played the US Open on. I fell in love with the ballroom and it's a good location for Family and Friends--not too far out on the island which is good for where are guest live.

We picked East Wind Country Gardens because we were looking for a place that we could have the ceremony at that would be in a garden (I always wanted to be married either in a garden or overlooking the water). The price was fantastic...they are willing to throw stuff in. The choice of food was amazing, there is a place for us and our guests to stay on premises, the food is delicious, and the setting is so intimate and beautiful. The grounds are so well kept. The whole property is impresive. I like that i won't run into another bride on my wedding day. The people are so wonderful there too...

We picked Villa Lombardis because of their reputation for amazing food! Absolutely everyone I have spoken too said that their food is unbelievable. Also, FH was born in Italy and wanted an 'italian hall'!! LOLWhen we saw Villas, we fell in love with the decor as well.
