We're having the same problem. We're moving about a month after the wedding and, worse yet, it will probably be somewhere smaller than our current apartment!

I think we're just going to register for the colors we like regardless. We can always paint the walls, right?

Luckily, we like a lot of neutral colors. The real problem is the kitchen though--I can't exactly go changing the countertop in a rental!

I would do neutral colors or colors you like.. you can always exchange them or at least the neutral colors will match no matter where you are living

I think you should register for the colors you would want - that is your STYLE regardless of where you live.

we chose neutral towels and sheets...white and cream colored...and dH insisted on slate blue, which worked out well. We had NO idea where we'd be living.

I say you can pick your colors. We picked light grey and white. We are going to save them for when we have a house which will be 2 years after marriage and if we want to change them you can at Bed Bath and Beyond.

This is what we're doing. And fortunately the colors are neutral enough that it shouldn't be too much of an issue. Get what you want. Then work around it.
