Engagement party favor ideas needed...

Ok---so, our E-party is December 4th. It's a 'cocktail reception' from 2-6. There will be passed appetizers and a pseudo-buffet set-up. I'm not sure if we should actually make placecards and seating arrangements (which means favors) or just allow people to walk around mingling and drinking and if they want to sit and eat, they can sit in any random spot. What do you all think?

The restaurant that does strictly catering, however, it's not overly fancy...very casual atmosphere.

Do you think we should have assigned seating?

If so, should we have favors?

Can I get away with a casual 'cocktail reception' for over 100 people without a formal 'sit-down buffet dinner?'

TIA!!

Re: Engagement party favor ideas needed...

I didn't want to go crazy with the favors. I kept mine simple at my e-party...put some hershey's hugs and kisses in small pink organza bags (got off ebay for $5 for 25 little bags) then purchased customized tags(also ordered from an ebay vendor ($6 for about 50 tags) Put them in the bags, then hot glued little irridescent pearls and a small flower with a bow on it, and tied the tags on that said 'Hugs and Kisses from the future Mr. and Mrs.' and our names and dates on them.

I used little personalized coffee packets. We are big coffee lovers. Everyone loved them. Under $1 each.

I think both assigned seating and favors are optional.

Re: Engagement party favor ideas needed...

We did beer cozzies with our names and wedding date on it and a 'ball and chain'. One of my cousins did chocolate bars with their names and pictures on them.

I've also been to a ton of e-partys where there was no favor. Which nobody missed or cared that they didn't get one.

Re: Engagement party favor ideas needed...

I love the tea & coffee favors idea. I think its so great! Also....you could giva out your save the date magnets at the E party. I think Kim did this also.

Or....what about a 'love' related ornament since it is so close to the holiday?

Good Luck & Have fun!
