QOTD - What is your favorite word and why?

Serendipity -- I love that a word exists to describe the experience of it.
Hope -- because of how it makes me feel.

i've always liked the word 'absurd'. i'm not sure why... but somehow it just 'sounds' like its meaning... ya know?

Superfluous. I have no idea why, I don't even use it very often (I mean, come on, how often can you use the word superfluous) but I have LOVED it since it was on my vocab test in like 7th grade

Purple and Cervantes. I just think when you analyze the pronounciation of 'purple' if FEELS funny! And Cervantes, just because it sounds SOOO COOL! I always loved it when my spanish teacher in HS would read excerpts from Don Quixote by Cervantes! (any excuse to use it!)

I like the word 'grape'- just because I like the way it sounds.
I also like the word quintessential since it reminds of high school English with Brother George.
There are a zillion others- I love vocabulary- it was my favorite subject in elementary school

Beverage- I don't know why, but it strikes me funny.

Scrumptulescent- Not actually a real word, but Will Ferrell said it on a SNL skit and FH and I have been using it ever since we saw it.

Leslie, out of respect to Ron and Liz I do not want to repost this from off-topic because is it rather bawdry but you HAVE to read bunnymonkey's post on this exact topic -- why it is such a great word -- under the question which I posed (albeit with a slight edit to this one) -- 'What is you favorite CURSE word and why?

i say it all the time... and also, when people are being rude to you... just brushing them off with a 'whatever' is soo much more frustrating to them than responding w/ any curse or whatever.

I have many favorite ones...but I like 'Believe'...because no matter in what situation you are in, no matter how things may seem, no matter what the odds can be, this word seems to give not only hope but also to sustain anyone in any situation......

I say that too, but feel compelled to add the name AMBER, as in 'Whatever, Amber' Please don;t ask why (I don't think there is an answer why?)
