Huntington train station

I always thought this was a good train station because there are so many trains going in and out and it's only 1 hour. Now I'm being told it's 'unsafe' and scary. Does anyone commute from there?

Re: Huntington train station

Huntington Station the neighborhood has parts that are unsafe.

Huntington the train station is like any other busy station - when it's busy, it's fine, when it's 3AM I wouldn't want to be there alone.

Re: Huntington train station

I've never felt uncomfortable around there - whether it was daylight or late at night.

With any place, there are pockets of bad amongst the good...you just need to keep your wits about you and be safe.

Re: Huntington train station

I commuted from there for 56 years, but then started to commute from Cold Spring harbor instead for the past 4 years. Huntington was fine, I never felt scared. You have to get there early so that you don't park far away. The further away the less safe it feels.

I recommend Cold Spring Harbor though, if you can get easily.

Re: Huntington train station

I thought Huntington had a HUGE parking garage! What time do you need to be there to get close by the train?

I like Huntington b/c it originates there so I'm assuming you can sit on the train and wait for it to leave rather than standing in the freezing cold.

Cold Spring Harbor is an awesome station EXCEPT that there is NO NO NO parking unless you get there at 6am!
