Just curious - are most of your good friends single or married?
And how does it affect your relationship with them?

Re: Just curious - are most of your good friends single or married?
Most of my good friends are single, but a lot of my other friends are couples (though a majority are not married yet). It has not affected my friendships with anyone but one or two of them and its from there side more then mine.I do find that my single girlfriends do not ask me for advice the way they use to when i was single. Anything i say to them they find it hard to take from me i guess and i came off as judgmental so i don't give them any type of advice on dating, etc anymore....
However, i would not be shocked if some of my relationships with my single frineds change when i have kids.....while i won't lose them as friends, we won't have as much in commen to talk about...but you never know.

Re: Just curious - are most of your good friends single or married?
All single except for one couple that got married 2 weeks after us. There are a few that are seriously dating so it is fun to hang out with them as couples. I don't hang out with my wild single girlfriends as much as I used to but I try to go out with them at least 1-2 times a month.

Re: Just curious - are most of your good friends single or married?
Most of my friends are single; it definitely has affected my relationship with some of them because it is quite awkward to go to Happy hour and my friends are trying to pick up a guy and I am left standing like a third wheel. (although it is not as bad as it used to be; we are all getting older). I am at the stage where I am very content and just want to hang and relax. Life is more simple for me now and that is a good thing. I also have a feeling some of my friends think I may be boring (even though they have calmed down quite a bit). Most of DH's friends are married so I can relate to them more.

Re: Just curious - are most of your good friends single or married?
We're both in our 30s, so whie its sort of a mix, the majority of our friend are married. All of our siblings and most cousins have been married awhile (with kids, no less) and we hang out with them more than our friends...so in that aspect, we were the last to get hitchedDH has a bunch of single guy friends, but right around the time we met he hardly hung out with them anymore. I hardly have more than a couple single g'friends, and I usually meet up with them for lunch and after dinner in NYC when I can .. but definitely the frienships have changed somewhat and we dont hang out like we used to

Almost all of our friends will be married by the end of 2005. We had 9 weddings this year. Another couple who was the first got married 2 years ago and now have a child. Since we all got married within a year of each other it really hasn't affected us too much, except that we're all broke!!!!! HA!

Re: Just curious - are most of your good friends single or married?
Most of my good friends are still single and many are in a rut where they are not even dating anyone and they are bitter. It is hard sometimes because I feel like I have to go out of my way to avoid talking about my marriage or husband because I don't want to make them feel badly. I try very hard to see a couple of my friends each week alone (without DH) so they don't feel like I've faded into marriage oblivion, but sometimes they still manage to make me feel badly when I'm not around to go out late on weekend nights because I have family obligations or honestly, just want to stay home! Maybe this is why married people always seem to be hell bent on setting up their single friends and marrying them off...so that you can hang out as couples and find more things in common again!

It's split for us. We have about 15 close friends. 6 of us are married the rest are single.

They're dropping like flies!
The funny thing is, DH is 4 years older than me and he has more single friends than I do.

Re: Just curious - are most of your good friends single or married?
mostly married, if not, dating exclusively....when I first got engaged my best friend was dating the same guy since HS but nothing was happening...They got engaged on Halloween, so now we are planning together...We only have a handful of single friends...It doesn't affect our relationship too much...We have our nights were it is only girls....I think it will become harder when we start to have children.

Re: Just curious - are most of your good friends single or married?
It's a mix for us. One of my best friends is married, another is engaged. One never wants to get married. Most of DH's friends are not married. I find that it's easier to hang out with the couples. What sometimes happens is that when we're with a group it ends up being 4 married couples and just 2 single people who end up feeling awkward.
