Re: who are you asking to make a speech at your wedding
OMG! This is what I am so nervous of.JanBride-was everyone complaining?
I have 2 MOH's and 2 BM and I have 2 Best friends that want to make a speech and who are adamant about it. I can just imagine how long that is going to take! i told BF's they are going to have to make it short and sweet
Would it be bad bad if I ask one of the MOH's and 1 of the Best men to make a speech (they're siblings-so oldest of the two??)
This poses such a problem...ugh

Re: who are you asking to make a speech at your wedding
MOH and Best Man- BM hates public speaking so his will be very short and sweet. My MOH is a master at it so she will go second to make everyone laugh and cry.

Maybe you can have one bm and one moh make a speech in the begining... and then later in the evening like after the cake have the other bm and moh do their speeches... breaking it up will make it nicer and wont seem as long.

Re: who are you asking to make a speech at your wedding
I was thinking the two MOHs will do it either at the wedding, or RD... we have two Best Men who will def speak at the wedding-- and then siblings.. but we want one or two short speeches.. the RD is where mostly everyone will say something if they want to.

I wouldn't say complaining but some of the speeches were very LONG. It's hard to keep someone's attention when it's one speech let alone 4 (or more) people ... think about what YOU want.
Maybe two could do speeches at the rehersal dinner and two at the reception.
As for the BF's that want to say speeches ... how are they related to the wedding/bridal party and groom? IMO, and only my opinion ... it's not a forum to gush and go on about all the good times you had as kids. And it's not a forum for people who who love to be in the spotlight.
Speeches should be appropriate - funny, witty, and ABOUT THE COUPLE. I wouldn't want someone up there saying 'And Oh when Mary was in HS we did ths, then remember in college we took that trip, and wow, I can't believe our friend Mary is getting married' with no mention of the groom at all ...
What about if they (the two Best Friends) did a speech at the shower?
Again, please don't be insulted or take my post as how everyone feels ... I personally just hate badly written, very long, and innappropriate speeches where they don't belong. And I hate to sit through 9,000 speeches, by the time the last person is up, people are talking to their friends and not paying attention.

Re: who are you asking to make a speech at your wedding
I don't get easily insulted. I enjoy people's opinions, it's refreshing. I do actually agree with you. The BM's actually are extended family and they love the groom. It's not in their nature to speak of past experiences together. However, I might ask that if they absolutely need to make a speech it should def be at bridal shower. Good idea.My one sister just told me today her speech is literally two lines, very short and sweet. I am going to have to warn my other sister. If it's anything like her sweet sixteen, I should get pillows as favors.
It will all work itself out. I've get bigger fish to fry right now.
Thanks for your input
