Suggestion for all you brides to be ... father/daughter dance
Let your father choose!I had a few ideas and such, but then I said 'hey dad, you need to choose it'
It took forever! I had a backup, but finally he chose. 'Somedays' by Paul McCartney.
Not something I'd have chosen but I knew the words to it.
My father could NOT stop crying through the song. It was so touching. Even though we stopped for photos like three times, he kept crying. I'm very glad I let him choose.
Somedays Lyrics
Paul McCartney
Somedays I look,
I look at you with eyes that shine.
Somedays I don't,
I don't believe that you are mine.
It's no good asking me what time of day it is,
Who won the match or scored the goal.
Somedays I look,
Somedays I look into your soul.
Sometimes I laugh,
I laugh to think how young we were.
Sometimes it's hard,
It's hard to know which way to turn.
Don't ask me where I found that picture on the wall,
How much it cost or what it's worth.
Sometimes I laugh,
I laugh to think how young we were.
We don't need anybody else
To tell us what is real.
Inside each one of us is love,
And we know how it feels.
Somedays I cry,
I cry for those who live in fear.
Somedays I don't,
I don't remember why I'm here.
No use reminding me, it's just the way it is,
Who ran the race and came in first.
Somedays I cry,
I cry for those who fear the worst.
We don't need anybody else
To tell us what is real.
Inside each one of us is love,
And we know how it feels.
Somedays I look,
I look at you with eyes that shine.
Somedays I don't,
I don't believe that you are mine.
It's no good asking me what time of day it is,
Who won the match or scored the goal.
Somedays I look,
Somedays I look into your soul.

I didn't let him choose but I did 'surprise' him with one of his faves. We danced to 'The Way You Look Tonight' by Frank Sinatra. There were probably ten other songs *I* would have chosen and that I was thinking of before that one but I knew he would love it!!! He loved the surprise and was actually singing during our dance (I had to tell him to be quiet!!
).I think letting him choose is a great idea.

My dad and I sung to eachother during the dance. loud too. It was our moment.
I could hear others around us talking and ignoring us completely. No one but me, my dad and brother really knew the song. But after all it was a father/daughter dance, it was about 'us'.

That is a beautiful song.I was going to let my dad pick, but we didn't do a formal father daughter dance.
We ended up doing the twist
