Table numbers? Don't want to offend anyone...

I have 3 parent tables--my mom, my dad at another (divorced), and his parents. I don't want to offend anyone by making 1, 2, and 3, but we hadn't made up catchy names or anything...Do you think anyone would get offended that they aren't #1?

Hey Beth, I made Phil's sister's table #1 so we wouldn't have to deal with that issue.

Lots of people do names! And if you do names, no one will even be THINKING of who's #1 and who's #2, etc!

Wait to see how your hall numbers the tables on the floor plan. We got out of that issue because the parents' tables on the floor plan were # 2, 4 and 6 - so we didn't have to choose who would be table 1

You could do table names. I'm from NY and my FI is from Boston. We are going to do street names and make up little street signs as for the signs.

That's a cute idea. I only have 12 days left so I am freaking out--if I did names I would want them to have some significance, and I can't think of anything good....

I don't think so. Because of the layout of the tables at our hall none of the parents tables were number one. No one cared.

I think they care more that they are at the front near the bride and groom.

I think usually the sweetheart table of the bride & groom is #1.

I've see people do:
- places they've visted together
- something to do with their honeymoon
- fav sports teams
- words to do with love, unity, etc
- Movie names that have to do with love
- Love songs (print out lyrics & put into a frame instead of just a song name on a card)
- Poems about love (same as above with frame)
- drink names
- naming the tables things to do with you guys like fav. restraunt, fav movie, etc.

I think my parents will - b/c my dad is a PITA. However, maybe you could do something like 'The Parents Smith' the 'Parents Jones' and the 'Parents Johnson' tables - if they're remarried - or maybe name it what it is - 'the Father of the Bride's Table'. I think you know you're parents best, and if you're worried about the reaction, best to find a way to avoid that scene altogether. Good luck!!

Yes, I kind of feel like making in #1 PITA Table, #2 PITA Table.... I know my father will not be pleased with being #2, but if he is #1 PITA that is a compromise, right?
