Repost from 05-QOTD What made you fall in love with the place you are getting married/having reception?

I'll start. I was really into the idea of a LI wedding -- like at a Flowerfield type outdoor venue. But, FI and I have had a very NYC relationship and life so he pushed and won me over to NYC venue. We saw a number but chose the Puck because it is the really unique space which combines the openness and airiness of a loft with the appearance of a historical downtown building. As FI says, our guests will be constantly reminded that they are at a NYC wedding--and that is our theme.

Re: Repost from 05-QOTD What made you fall in love with the place you are getting married/having reception?

Well, I had been to Umteenmillion places before bringing FH to only 3. First was Leonards, then North Ritz Club, then Jericho Terrace. What sold us on Jerich Terrace was the grounds, then the lobby, then the CH room, then the Dome Room. After seeing the Dome Room, we both said 'This is it', regardless of the 175 minimum.

Re: Repost from 05-QOTD What made you fall in love with the place you are getting married/having reception?

when we looked at our hall (before renovations) it felt very cozy and homey, which is what we wanted, after the renovations, we felt the same with a touch of elegance

Re: Repost from 05-QOTD What made you fall in love with the place you are getting married/having reception?

Fox Hollow was actually the first place I looked at. I went by myself because FH had to work. I loved the lobby when I first walked in. I knew right away that this was were I wanted to get married. I called FH and told him that. Then together we saw a few more places and then I brought him back to Fox Hollow and he loved it also

Re: Repost from 05-QOTD What made you fall in love with the place you are getting married/having reception?

it was a combo of things for me - the one wedding at a time was a big seller plus the hall itself is abslutely stunning - i loved the bridal suite - having a really nice one was on my top 10 list
but what really cinched it was the banquet manager and the look in her eyes when i told her the theme - i knew she would run with it right that is what sold me on it

We are wine fanatics, and fell in love with Wolffer the very first time we visited, over 5 years ago. We had always said 'we'll have our wedding here!' And we did
It was gorgeous!

Re: Repost from 05-QOTD What made you fall in love with the place you are getting married/having reception?

I always dreamed out an outdoor wedding in a garden. When I was little I used to play 'pretend wedding' and it was always outside in a flower bed of some sort. When I saw the Country Gardens at East Wind I just got this feeling that was very special. I love the buildings, they are very elegent, classic, yet homey...I could totally SEE my garden-romance theme.

I am not going to lie...I really loved the price. The menu and food are both wonderful. I loved the fact I was the only bride. I loved how well East Wind takes care of their grounds. I loved the package I got. I also loved the fact that there is a hotel on premises. After the long day, I like knowing we don't have to travel.

Re: Repost from 05-QOTD What made you fall in love with the place you are getting married/having reception?

I've always imagined a getting married on a beach or under a gazebo just off the water. The Riviera was the first place we went to and none of the others compared for us. It has a warm rustic feel to it. Weather permitting, we will have the ceremony under the gazebo with the water in the background, the cocktail hour will hopefully be outside right off the water. And then, of course, the backdrop for the reception is - you guessed it - the water! Come on, Mother Nature - work with me here!

Re: Repost from 05-QOTD What made you fall in love with the place you are getting married/having reception?

I booked Verdi's at first and I cancel because I decided to go to the Huntington Town House and i fell in love. HTH had more pic options than verdi. The owner was really nice and the price was right also.

Re: Repost from 05-QOTD What made you fall in love with the place you are getting married/having reception?

I looked a few places with my mom and sister and I just loved Westbury. I liked that I can have CH outside and that the room I would be using opens right into the gardens. It was mostly the gardens that sold me. So beautiful and I love the birds there! lol I brought fh there two days later and he just loved it!

The ballroom! My fh really isnt into wedding stuff so I didnt expect him to be into hall hunting. The look on his face when we entered the ballroom sold me. We booked right then and there!

Re: Repost from 05-QOTD What made you fall in love with the place you are getting married/having reception?

For us it was the coziness of the hall. Some places can be overdone which is not our taste at all. It was intimate..not too big or too smaller for our smaller wedding. Also the amount of food and the price was excellent. The added bonus was having an outside cocktail hour, many places dont offer that to the smaller weddings.

Re: Repost from 05-QOTD What made you fall in love with the place you are getting married/having reception?

We actually had already signed a contract with another hall, but after driving around my aunt's neighborhood, she just suggested that we take a look at westbury manor..... as soon as we drove up the driveway, I felt like I had stepped back in time. I immediately fell in love.
There was old jazz music playing outside, and as soon as you step in there is this old time feel. It used to be an old mansion, so it feels very homey and cozy. I also fell in love with the gardens with all the beautiful flowers and little quaint bridges. The water fountain is also beautiful.
As soon as we sat down with the BM, I felt in my heart that we wouldn't be able to afford the place- but to our surprise, it was actually 10 bucks cheaper a person then we were quoted from the original place- and it offered better menu options. My FH almost killed me, but in the end we are both happy with our decision, and are really looking forward to pretending we live in a mansion for a night!
