Asking my girls to be in my wedding...

I want to do this in a very special way. I'm thinking of sending them (via mail) a specialized bridesmaid card with a note inside asking them to be in my party...then I'm going to invite them all over to my apartment for a sunday brucnh so everyone can bond a little more....how does this sound? SHould I also give them a little gift now?

Also - my wedding isn't till 7/30, our e-party is 11/07. I don't want to ask my party just yet - when do you think is a good time to ask the girls? I'm thinking Dec. 1

Re: Asking my girls to be in my wedding...

i think the brunch is a very good idea. JMO but some people get very upset when they are not asked important stuff like this in person. Also, I think it is nice when the wedding party is picked before the engagement party, and everyone knows, so there is no awkward---so are you in so and so's wedding party?

Re: Asking my girls to be in my wedding...

Both great suggestions. Ok, you're right. I'm asking before the e-party.

So - there was some thought that I shouldn't ask them in a card....should I just invite the girls to my apartment, and ask them there?

What type of gift did you give to your girls at your e-party?

Re: Asking my girls to be in my wedding...

Do people get upset if they are NOT asked to be in the party? I'm hoping I don't offend anyone by NOT asking them - it's just that I want to keep the BP to about 5 or 6 ppl. (i'm still decided on two girls - one of which is my FBIL's girlfriend.)

Also - how does it work when not all of your BP lives in the same place?

Re: Asking my girls to be in my wedding...

I asked mine is person, but if they don't all live near you and you won't see them for a while and can't wait then a card would be nice.

I'm worried that a few of my friends may be hurt that I didn't ask them, but no one has said anything to me. I want to keep my bridal party small and only invited my two closest friends and sisters. Hopefully people understand.

Re: Asking my girls to be in my wedding...

This is exactly what I am doing! I am putting together these poem cards I made on nice paper from Kate's Papiere and sending one out to each girl. I am also including with it an invitation to a brunch at my apt, so everyone can hang out, spend time together, exchange contact info, etc....
