I was at a wedding there and it was wonderful. It was a few years back, but I am sure the service is still the same.

I tried to do a 25th Anniversary there about 8 years ago for my parents and we had a lot of trouble with the staff. They would do nothing to accomodate us, and this was during the BOOKING!! We wound up going on a NY Spirit Cruise instead.

Keep in mind this was EIGHT YEARS AGO and I am sure a LOT has changed!!! Not trying to discourage you, as yes it is gorgeous!!! But I wanted to be honest!

Not a wedding, but my company had our annual black tie dinner there in 2003. It was beautiful. The dance floor moves. We had a great band too but I didn't think to get their card/name.

The staff was great. We wanted for nothing. There were about 200 of us.

Re: The Rainbow Room - anyone been to wedding here? got married here?

I sorta checked it out for my wedding.. My MOH is an event planner- and she does events at mostly upscale venues in the city.. So, she went there for an event.. and asked them about weddings (for me). Now, while she has relationships with the catering managers at all these places-- this will give you an idea..

They gave her a price of $200 a head, including tax & tip, for a Sat night in Feb/March. This was not in the main ballroom, but a smaller one which I think is on the next level down, but I think holds up to 150/175 people. I think the main room is really big, maybe even too big for a private affair. We put our list together and knew we would have a little more than 200, so we ruled it out.

I went to an anniversary party there three weeks ago on a Saturday night. The price started at $200 and then there were a lot of upgrades. The food, with the exception of the appetizer, was really good. The service was subpar. They did not have a full fledge cocktail hour at that price either. They just had a dim sum and peking duck station from Shun Lee.

Re: The Rainbow Room - anyone been to wedding here? got married here?

I guess I should also mention that I was considering the rainbow room for my wedding but heard some not great things. My parents met someone in the restaurant industry who said that the Cipriani restaurants are all really dirty and not kept nice in the kitchen. I also heard from a musician who used to work there that the food was not good. Now like I said, I thought the food was good for the most part.
