Teachers or Students...thought you might know

Why do the schools start class on Friday's? Or Thursday's even for that matter?

I can understand that they need to have a certain amount of teaching days, but to me this just seems weird.

And if you don't have a class scheduled on that day, school really doesn't start for you on Monday.

May be a dumb question but just picking your brains

OK, it is generally b/c there are more Monday and Friday holidays than during the week.

There have to be a set # of classroom hours for each class, so if you have a m/w class, and then a T/Th class, the T/Th class is less likely to have vacation days than the M/W...so the classes srat on those days. Usually. Most schools have a calendar committe who determine the days off about 2 -3 years in advance.
