South Beach Diet Questions
I just started South Beach today and I'm already full of questions! Here's what I'm wondering:1) Is it okay to switch different meals within Phase 1--for example, having the Day 2 breakfast, but the Day 1 lunch?
2) Is what is on the 'menu' all we're supposed to eat for the day? What are some healthy snack options if the celery stick with cheese wasn't enough--is this where the 'foods to enjoy' come in?
3) I bought turkey and ham from the superkmarket deli counter, but I didn't specify what kind I wanted. Is it okay that I didn't get low/no-fat? I'm just confused because the 'foods to enjoy' section said that the luncheon meat should be low/no-fat (I didn't see this til I'd already bought the turkey/ham). Thanks!!

Re: South Beach Diet Questions
You can substitute anything every day. I never followed the meal plan. Just stay away from the foods to avoid. As long as you keep it to good foods you can snack all day, carrots are not allowed during Phase One, but all the other veggies are fine.
I wouldn't worry about the Turkey or Ham for now. The turkey is fine anyway, it's automatically no fat. The ham has some fat, just make sure to buy low fat ham next time around.
Good luck,

Re: South Beach Diet Questions
If I substitute is that okay since I'm going for maximum weight loss during the Phase 1? Thanks again for your help! I read the whole book, but I didn't see that he mentioned this anywhere

Re: South Beach Diet Questions
I didn't go by the meal options just stick to what you can eat on phase 1.I lived on string cheesse, peanutbutter (the natural type only), fat free and sugar free jello.
I loved the ricotta cheese dessert... very easy to make and filling and also yummy...
good luck.
YOu will lose weight if you stick to the first two weeks.
I would alwys buy the low salt boars head turkey and Healthy deli no carb no fat ham..
HOpe this helps

Re: South Beach Diet Questions
So, basically, if I want an extra string cheese, I can have one, right? That ricotta stuff is great! I tested it last night. The brand you get makes all the difference too. Sorrento was awful, but Polly-o was SO good--I might have a problem eating too much of it

Re: South Beach Diet Questions
The first two weeks are great if you stick to it. Sugar free jello is good as a snack, and go for that extra part- skim string cheese if you want. I use lots of veggies and herbs in cooking/grilling so that makes the meals a little more exciting. I also changed the veggie quiche cups to broccoli and low fat cheddar. Good luck!!!!Welcome New Vendors
