Vendors and deposits
What has been your experience with vendors you want to book. Do they make you leave a deposit to secure the date? How much? I haven't met with anyone yet since I'm not working at the moment and am on a strict austerity budget. I'm afraid if I wait too long I won't be able to get who I want though.

Here's my expericences:
Photo/Video: (DUET) - left $500 deposit when we booked
DJ: (High Voltage) - $50 deposit
Hall: (Fox Hollow) - $500 deposit
We booked our vendors early so that payment plans wouldn't overwhelm us. So glad we did it this way, it just makes the process so much easier. Good luck!

We have been leaving $500 deposits with all of our vendors, except for the reception hall which we left a $1000 deposit.
We also booked our vendors early so we could pay only $1000 per month for the next 12 months to all of our vendors. Our budget is $12,000.

Will be paying off photo $90 a month until the wedding. Love that payment plan!!

Most vendors ask for 20% deposit. That is what I have found.

Haven't booked anything else yet. I have also agreed to pay all vendors in cash that would not charge me tax and so far it has worked for photography and maybe video.

It really depneds on the people (vendors) I see some people wrote $50 for DJ...ours was 40%...so it could be a big difference...
