Inviting co-workers...

What is the ettiquette when inviting co-workers and your wedding is out of town. Currently, I am definitely inviting one co-worker - a really good friend - and possibly another. The company is really small 14 ppl and is in NY, not LA.

So, what do I do? I obliged to invite everyone? I think it would be good to invite my immediate boss - but do I need to invite the head boss of the office.

Oh, I dont know ...

Re: Inviting co-workers...

I'm having the same issue too. I'm inviting everyone from my current job because I felt it would be weird to invite 3 or 4 out of 15. I'm having trouble with my previous job where I'm still very close with one of my co-workers and am not so close with the other 12...but I still do keep in touch with everyone and they're always inviting me to their parties...
I figure if I invite only my firend it will be a good place to cut it off otherwise I have to invite them all! I know that they will not be able to come all the way to NY anywaybut I don't want to chance having more people than I can afford as well.
I'm hoping because it is a long distance weddig that they will understand.

Re: Inviting co-workers...

I think that you should invite only the people that you want to be there. You would hope that people would not be ofended if you did not invite them and only chose to invite those that you wanted to share in your special day.

i would say it depends on the relationship. i am going to invite a boss from a previous job not because he was my boss, but because i like him outside of the office. we worked together for a while and i like who he is and what he stands for...

also, keep in mind because your wedding is OOT if you 'know' these people will not come it may come off a like 'asking for presents' and they may not want to be put in that position. i never really thought if it this way until this past weekend when both my mom and FMIL were concerned about inviting certain people for this reason...
