question about addressing invites.PLEASE READ

well its really too late b/c they are out but when you are inviting someone with guest do you put the guest on theouter envelope as well as the inner? we didnt so we did...

Outer envelope
ms. Mary smith
address

Inner
Ms. Mary Smith and guest.

My MOH calls me and says why wasnt i invited with a guest so I explained it to her and she thinks I did it wrong. It doesnt matter they are all out but just curious did I do it wrong?

Re: question about addressing invites.PLEASE READ

That's how we did it. You are inviting Ms. Mary Smith, and giving her the option of a guest. It's up to her if she wants to bring someone.

Re: question about addressing invites.PLEASE READ

I wrote mine the same way. I only wrote the guests name if they were married or engaged. I read this in the martha stewart wedding planner.

Re: question about addressing invites.PLEASE READ

You did it the correct way - it is supposed to be addressed to the individual on the outer and then Ms. Smith and guest on the inner.

Re: question about addressing invites.PLEASE READ

I have been invited to weddings many times with a guest and that is how it was done at least half of those times. I guess that is one way of finding out who really reads there invitations!!!!!

But I can offer everyone a suggestion: My FH nephew is getting married a few months before us and we are both in there wedding party keep in mind we have been living together for 5 1/2 years together for 6 anyway, we (I should say he) receives his invitation to the wedding and it says Mr. XXX & GUEST so technically I was never invited to the wedding. When we questioned it we were told her parents are very big on etiquette.

FYI it is wrong, bad etiquette and very rude.

Re: question about addressing invites.PLEASE READ

You did it the correct way. The outer envelope is for the guest. The inner envelope tells who is invited.
Ex: Outer Mr. and Mrs. Smith
Inner: Mr. and Mrs Smith and Family
Calm down you did a great job

Re: question about addressing invites.PLEASE READ

you did it right , don't worry!

I, unfortunately, screwed up my invitations and put 'and guest' on the outside (I had my FH helping and a bunch fell thru the cracks b/f we sent them out). At that point it wasn't worth it for me to change it, so I left it 'as is'

But etiquette wise, you were perfect
