How to include Step-parents??? (Ones that you LOVE!)/ also how does the candle that lights the unity candle get lit?

I adore my stepmom. To include my FMIL in the wedding I think we'll ask her, my FFIL, and my parents to light the candles that light the unity candle.

I can have my stepmom up there too, right?

How exactly do the candles get lit? Does the priest give a match to the parents or what?

They usually leave matches up there, or there are other candles already lit on the alter and the parents light the tapers from the other lit candles.

As for step parents, well, we didn't have anything for them to do. They both got corsages and boutineers and they were walked down the aisle. They were also in all family pictures and announced at the reception. There's only so much for everyone to do.

for our unity canlde, they had two votive candles lit, and our parents each lit one taper in the votive, and then handed the tapers to us and we lit the cndle.
not sure about the step parents....maybe a reading?

What I did was my Step Mom did a reading. My mom and FMIL did the candle lighting.

Then I did a special dance with my step dad after my DH danced with his mother.

our altar girl light our unity candles, but you can also have moms/stepmoms light them then pass them to you & FH.
