Re: What is a normal price for Calligraphy?

I didn't complain because she did them by hand, they looked excellent, and I was able to get the smell out. I left the envelopes near an open window for a few days and the scent came out. So, it ended up being okay.

Re: What is a normal price for Calligraphy?

I've seen prices around $1.10 - $1.50 for computer & $1.50 - $2.50 for hand.

Anyone know what the difference is between the computer calligraphy & your home printer?

Re: What is a normal price for Calligraphy?

I used a company in Wisconsin, you just mail everything to them and they do them on computer. I paid I think about .90 per envelope with return address. It would have been cheaper but I wanted colored ink. I don't have inner envelopes so I didn't have to worry about that. In total it came to about $55 for 90 envelopes. Their turn around time is super quick also, like a week.

Re: What is a normal price for Calligraphy?

You have to check if it is hand calligraphy or done by computer. Hand calligraphy is a bit more, but hand done. I think average is $2. However, I have seen it for $5 too.

Computer calligraphy averages $1 - $2.

The difference in the calligraphy they do computerized vs. doing it on your own computer is a sw program. There is a professional program (about $1k) that has a huge variety of fonts. It also figures out the spacing and scaling. Most places also have higher quality computers, so it doesn't smudge.

A friend of mine had William Arthur invites. She tried printing them herself on the PC, but the envelopes were so thick. By the time I received the invite, the outside looked awful. It was as if you could scratch the printing off. It was like, it didn't adhere to the envelope.

Re: What is a normal price for Calligraphy?

Hand calligraphy makes a nice touch, especially when done right... I can notice a big difference in the computer printed ones. JMO
