? for past Nov/Dec brides...sleeves?

My wedding is December 2, 2000. I was wondering what the weather was like around your wedding day. I'm trying to decide on sleeves or leaving it the way it is (tank style). I'm afraid of altering it too much. The sleeves cost more and I'm afraid it could change the look of the dress. Can anyone give me input? Will I be nuts if I don't put sleeves on the dress for a December wedding? I thought of using a pashmina scarf just for being outside. When I describe to family/friends the top of my dress is tank top style, they got this funny look on their face!:o( I won't take offense if you criticize. I just want to know what the concensus is. Thanks!

Not to start anyhting, but how do you know it isn't a fake name? Anyone can post under any name they want.

I just don't think that has to do with anything. Chris' comment was useless, and completely unhelpful.

Just an FYI- Wedding dresses don't have seasons. I am wearing strapless in November. It is totally a prefernece thing. If you are afraid of being chilly, maybe you should look for a matching shawl. That way if you are cold you can put it on. Mostly likely thought, with all the danicing you'll be doing, you'll never wear it. Go for what you feel comfortable in. In you think it will change the look of your dress, I wouldn't do it. Maybe opt for long gloves...

I am getting married this November, and my dress is actually short sleeves, but I am having it made into long sleeves...It does change the whole look of the dress, so be careful....I knew I wanted long sleeves, so when I went looking my mom had cut off some sleeves of an old white shirt, and I put them on with the dresses...the salespeople thought I was nuts...lol...but it really helped a lot...

I am using Elena. She did a consult for me (hair and makeup) for a very reasonable price, and she tried a number of different hairstyles until we found one I liked. I don't have any references of anyone who has used her before, so I am going on my gut instinct. I found her in a roundabout way--I was on the web site The Knot, and someone recommended another stylist. The recommended stylist was already booked, so she recommended Elena.

I saw a bride in Dec. that had a sleeveless dress and wore a white fur wrap(I'm sure it was fake but looked real) around her for some pictures and when she was outside. It looked gorgeous, rich and very seasonal.

Thanks everyone. Lisa W.-that was a very good idea with the sleeves. I don't think I can handle long sleeves though. I know my nerves will be on end so I'd rather be cold than sweating to death. I know wedding dresses are not seasonal, but try to tell everyone else that!! Everyone is like, aren't you going to be cold. Well maybe, but aren't those high heels killing your feet, not to mention your back....but thats the price of fashion, right!! Right! I thought of the fur thing too. I wouldn't even know where to get the fur. I wouldn't get it from a bridal store, it would probably cost a fortune! But money is running out and I'm soooo tired of spending so much money on bridal things. Those bridal stores get you coming and going. I think I'm going to change careers and go into the bridal industry. I could be rich!! Between paying for a wedding and setting up our apartment with furniture and stuff, we are slowly digging a whole for ourselves!!! Just venting!! Thanks again!

Good luck.

How many weddings do they hold at once? I could have sworn 2, but just want to hear from those who are using them.

I too was faced with the same feelings for my March wedding. Automatically I was thinking I "should" wear long sleeves and then I heard the "dresses are seasonless" comments. I was able to go back to my originally desired dress style - spaghetti straps and found a dress I LOVE!! good luck :-) Go with what you feel, everyone is right, you can always put a matching shawl or even a white or ivory pashmina over your shoulders for the outdoor moments.

Top row: Madelyn (I think), Laurie, AnneMarie, Valerie R., Debbie, JennZ

My wedding was in February, I had sleeves, but that is just because I do not show my arms! I think that if you want your dress without sleeves then go for it!! when I choose my date everyone was so concerned that It would snow or be so cold!! Well remember that heat wave that we had in February that was the week of my wedding!! I remember going to pick up my dress that Thursday without a coat on!! that Saturday it was actually a little chilly, but I was so hot the entire day that it felt like 100 degrees, wish that I would not have had sleeves!!

good luck

Thanks everyone, I feel a lot better....better to be cold then hot!!! Thanks again, and good luck to past and future brides.
I didn't buy my veil or headpiece there...i bought it at a craft shop in PA. Try a craft shop in your area....mind matched my dress exactly and cost a total of 20 bucks!
