Prenatal vitamins

This is my first post here!

I am not ttc, and won't be for at least a year or two, but have a question.
Are these vitamins for after you get pregnant, or while you are trying?

When are you supposed to start taking them?

I was just at my GYN/OB and she stressed that they should be taken BEFORE you TTC. (It's important that the Folic Acid be in your blood system before you get pregnant.)

I got the same from my dr last night....start taking a simply multi-vitamin that has folic acid, start eating right, and excercising too! And we are NOT actively TTC

Hey! I began taking prenatals about a month ago and we are not going to TTC until around august/ sept of this year.
From the information I got for the girls on this site and from reading at babycenter.com, there is no harm in taking them early. It really is just a multi-vitamin that has around 800 mg of folic acid in it.
