I am not Italian, but am marrying one, and everyone in his family calls it sauce. My FH HATES when people call it gravy...

AND...my FH and I were just talking about this the other night...when you make some kind of pasta, do you call it pasta or macaroni?

I think my mom switches. When I was growing up, it was gravy, but I have heard my mom say sauce too

My house it is sauce.. Gravy is brown and goes on meatloft or a roast or soemthing.

And it is always referred to in my house as spagetti and meatballs. No matter what kinda pasta is used.

Yup. He is 100% Italian...I am 1/2 Italian, 1/2 German.

We call it gravy if its with meat, like meatballs or sausage and sauce if its a plain marinara
