Bachelorette party dinner ideas (NYC)

I was thinking either Lucky Changs or Lips, but I can't find Lips and I heard LC's food is 'hit or miss'. I am also thinking Beni Hana.

Can anyone offer any other suggestions for fun places to eat in Manhattan?

Thanks
Mary

Re: Bachelorette party dinner ideas (NYC)

Lips is on Bank Street in the Village

The website is www.lipsnyc.com

The food was pretty good and the show was outrageously funny!

Cafe Wha..Macdougal Street
There aren't any drag queens there but it's alot of fun. I went for a friend's bachlorette party there last year. We had a blast!

Re: Bachelorette party dinner ideas (NYC)

Depends on what you want to do. If you want to see a show along with dinner, yes, Lucky Chang's is hit or miss, but the 'ladies' are fantastic. What kind of place are you looking for?

Re: Bachelorette party dinner ideas (NYC)

What about Mangia Y Bevi....its a fun italian restaurant...the staff is really fun and they blast the music and you dance on your chairs with tamberines in hand. The food is mediocre...I guess you just dont go their for top notch Italian...more for the fun atmosphere!

Re: Bachelorette party dinner ideas (NYC)

AtticaQT - what is Ruby Foo's like?

For the girls that suggested Lips - do you think that if I have some girls coming in that don't want to drink (some are preggo, one is AA) they'll still probably have fun? IE: what is the show like - is it drag queen show or a hunky male revue? So that if we go out drinking at a bar after, the ones that can't drink won't feel like they didn't have a good time? I just want my friends to have fun.

Mangia Y Bevi sounds good too. Putting that on my list, and Cafe Wha too.

Thanks for all the recommendations
Mary

Another vote for Mangia.....
The food is great, the atmosphere is fun, it is really reasonable and in a centrally located area.

Re: Bachelorette party dinner ideas (NYC)

I went to Mangia in Dec... but I am not sure, I think the one we went to was on like 10ave or 11th.... the only problem I had with the place is that is was SOOOOOOOOOOOOO crowded! We had a reservation and still had to wait for while and then when we were sitting, we had people standing practically on our table waiting to get seated

Re: Bachelorette party dinner ideas (NYC)

My B-party was last Friday at Lips. It was outstanding!!! The 'girls' are all wonderful, the food was great and the drinks were better, the show was entertaining, and they do a little 'something special' for anyone celebrating that night. The funniest part, though, was not something ordinarily done there (I don't think). One of my friends baked a cake in the shape of a penis. So our waitress brouhgt the cake out (with a candle burning at the tip), and had me get on my knees in front of her while she sat with the cake tray between her legs and I had to blow the candle out. Then I had to take a bite out of the cake right there in that position. It was hysterical!!! I was so embarassed, but it was a blast!! I can't wait to get the pics from my MOH. Their website tells you where to find them. I honestly don't remember.

Re: Bachelorette party dinner ideas (NYC)

Mangia e Bevi is on 53rd and 9th.
Lips is hysterical!! Great drag show!

We took our friend to see, 'Naked Boys Singing!' for her bachelorette party -- was had such a blast!! There were a bunch of a other bachelorette parties there that night, so much fun! She got a kit with a veil and a feather boa (OMG she WOULD NOT take the veil off all night!) Hilarious, totally recommend!

:)

Re: Bachelorette party dinner ideas (NYC)

I just found this when I was searching on LIW, but I can't find the restaurant online
Sorry I dont know the poster:

e went into the city for mine also. We ate in little italy at a resturant called la mela (I hope I spelled that right, but if not, it is phonetic). We had the best time there! It is very lively and they have a huge d*ck hanging from the ceiling that they light up and people light up to celebrate their birthdays, BP and for anyother reason. My friends also got me the special dessert. you can use your imagination as to what it resembled and everyone in the place was yelling 'bite the bananna'. I never laughed so hard in my life (oops! excuse the pun). All the food was delicious and served family style.

I would highly recommend this to start off your evening. After that we just decided to bar hop and that is a whole story in itself.
