Question about inviting co-workers & bosses....

How did you get their addresses? I realize you can just ask but then that puts the both of you in an awkward postion possibly. This is because they of course will want to know why you are asking, and then when you tell them they might feel obligated to talk about whether they are going to come or not, etc. Is it just me that feels that way??

So anyway, how did you go about getting the addresses??

TIA!

Re: Question about inviting co-workers & bosses....

you can ask the adminisrative assistant for the group (if you're in an office).

Re: Question about inviting co-workers & bosses....

i personally would not invite anyone who i would feel awkward asking for an address...

if you don't want to engage in 'small talk', shoot them an email...

Re: Question about inviting co-workers & bosses....

Its not that I feel awkward asking them for an address, I feel awkward putting them in the position of bringing up inviting them to my wedding......

Re: Question about inviting co-workers & bosses....

I just simply asked them.
And each of them offered it without any questions.

I wouldn't worry about it. They will prob. be too busy to start 'small talk'

i guess i just don't understand the awkwardness, i would be more worried about being stuck in a situation where i ask them and someone else who is not invited overhears..

i will be inviting some people from the office and have no qualms asking them (i actually have most of the addresses already because we are friends)...

Re: Question about inviting co-workers & bosses....

I asked my boss and co-workers directly for their info. They were so excited they were invited...we never discussed if they would be attending. A few of them said out right I cant wait...i will definitely be there...the others I will just wait for the reply.

My point is that there was no awkwardness.

Re: Question about inviting co-workers & bosses....

If you have an HR department you can ask them, they would also have it. I happen to have access to my HR files so, I got my boss's address from there. Either that or e-mail them. I wouldn't want ask them personally either...

This is what I did and she had all but one of them (b/c they weren't in our group)

maybe send an email? ... i think the people would feel better if you got the adress from them, otherwise they might wonder how you got it(security wise)

Re: Question about inviting co-workers & bosses....

Most of them I either have or can get from the ups computer (people ship themselves thigs to work on at home)

I can't ask our office manager b/c he's not invited!

I'd ask 1 or 2 people wo may have other peopels addresses. Hopefully those will be the same people who won't be weird about it.

Re: Question about inviting co-workers & bosses....

after thinkng about it, I can see what you mean. It would be weird if you asked soemoen & they said, well, Ic an't go or I'm not going to go, so you don' t have to waste the invitation.

However, hopeful they will have the sense to just tell you their address, and then decline via the mail if the don't want to go.

people actually do that? say to your face they won't go? even if they have a conflict, i would still send them an invite because i wanted them to be there. i guess if you are on the fence about someone or don't really want them there i understand, but i am really not having those type of people at my wedding...

i would never say 'no' to someone before getting officially invited with card. that's just me though...

Re: Question about inviting co-workers & bosses....

i was lucky i work with one of my bridesmaids and she asked them for my shower but the others i just asked. i think if you have a relationship with them close enough to invite them they will expect that and gladly give up the addresses. i would try human resourches as well first but they might not always give you info up that easily.
