Update on Jaw problems - Let finally let me released me from the hospital last night.
Thank you to all those who gave me advice about my jaw - by late friday night I couldn't hear out of my right ear. I woke to severe pain in my right side of my face and couldn't talk or open my jawI went to the ER sat morning and - who gave me IV antibiotics and told me to come back if I got worse - I went back middle of the night and they admitted me to the hosptial on sunday for severe swimmers ear with Cellulitis (sp?- a severe and painful infection) - with an infection in the middle ear, and fluid in the inner, with severe swelling of the neck, face and ear area - my ear was completely swollen shut. I have never seen swelling like this before.
They thought I had a neck infection my neck was so swollen -they claim they have never seen anything like it and have no idea how I got it.
So now I am on bed rest for at least 1 week - so FH cancelled our surprise dinner for valentines day - they tell me they 'hope' I can fly in two weeks for my shower!!!!

thank you all - I have never EVER had pain like that before it was really scary - I am still afraid not all my hearing will come back - my mother was terrified being in NY and since both of her parents were deaf most or all of their lives she was afraid I would lose my hearing)

omg! I am so sorry! I hope you feel better! Ya know, my friend's brother had this happen about 8 months ago----he had a clogged salvitary (sp?) gland in his neck--he was sooooooo swollen it was scary--sounds just like what you were describing--they didn't know what it was either--but it eventually went down & he is okay now. He couldn't open his jaw/mouth either-Not sure if that totally just confused you, just trying to let ya know so maybe it's not such a mystery! to you!
