Credit Card Question
Did you change your name on all your credit cards or leave any in your maiden name? I read once that that was a good thing to do.

Re: Credit Card Question
nope, I changed all my CC to my marrid name, and added DH to just one card. My other card is still in just my name only.

Re: Credit Card Question
I definately had to b/c I do not sign my credit cards I always put 'check ID' where the signature goes so I definately need my ID cards and names on credit cards to match.

Re: Credit Card Question
Jodi, I think what they mean is that you keep one that you are the primary. That the CC is based on your credit. That is what we did. One in his name with me as an additional. One with me as the primary and Frankie as the additional. This way I am still keeping my 'credit' rating going. I don't think it is the name as much as whose SS# the card is based on.

Re: Credit Card Question
I changed everyone except one...they wanted me to mail a copy of my marriage license...
yeah like that was going to happen...too lazy...dgtlsun...thats a great idea...do all stores check your ID? what happens if they don't? do you tell them?
In CA it must be a law...b/c I get an ID check 9/10 times I use my CC

ETA: Do you all have at least one joint credit card with DH & if so was it a new account or you added to his account or him added to yours?

Re: Credit Card Question
On everything, I am hypenating.I haven't gotten around to it all yet, and haven't done the drivers license and ss#.
Turns out you don't need that to do your banking and credit card info.
Me and DH don't have jt. credit cards, we never even thought about it.
We have joint bank accounts.
PS. I use his credit card even though it doesn't have my name, I just sign my first initail and his last name, we have the same initials now

unfortunately DH had NO credit before he met me (would deal only with cash) - so he came on my cards before we were married (talk about trust...huh?)
we tried for a long time to get his own...they offered secured...but we decided that we would try to build up his credit in other ways...put him on the cable bill...electricity, etc..all utilities...
finally he was able to get an AMEX...adn now has 'excellent' credit according to our mortgage broker...
but we are trying to keep the number of CCs we have to a minimum...and all the good cards are in my name...so no more separate cards...we're officially really married
