Deseversky Center and nassau county museum

I havent really heard much about either place, but I heard that they are immaculate. Does anyone know any information regarding the Deseversky center on the NYIT campus in old westbury or the mansion at the nassau county museum in roslyn harbour. Any info regarding any or these places would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Deseversky Center and nassau county museum

You can call either to get info...
I think the museum is catered by Stone Caterers - I did go to see them and the site fee was like $8-10,000 and it's soo pretty...they have a tent attached to the museum...Their office is on Marcus Ave. past New Hyde Park...

The Deseversky was pretty too and the menu sounds great - I just called them and they send me a whole folder w/ prices and menu...
Prices range but something about $125 pp sticks in my head but you can just call...

Re: Deseversky Center and nassau county museum

A lot of people have lately been turned off my DeSeversky because of the grounds renovations that they have done. It has also been taken over by NYIT and they put up these ugly awnings with the schools name on the mansion.

Re: Deseversky Center and nassau county museum

We looked at both places....the museum is a great place to have a wedding b/c it is original, but weddings are run by an outside catering company (stone phillips). For a July wedding, we were quoted a price of $125 pp and a site fee of around $5,000, but you have to decide whether bringing in an outside caterer is a good idea.
DeSeversky Center was okay. There is construction when you drive up to the building and they did put up an ugly awning. Inside is okay, the room fits about 100 people, outside is nice. But if you want to have your ceremony there, there is an additional $1000 charge that includes nothing, not even a flower.
Check out the Harrison House and the Carltun, both are very nice and in the same price range as the ones you asked about. (I am getting married at the Harrison House, by the way!)
Good Luck!

Re: Deseversky Center and nassau county museum

I went to a wedding at DeSeversky this past June. THe food was really good! The front landscape was under construction but the back was not and it was a really nice night out! IT was really nice to take a glass of wine out there and sit for a few minutes! Also the staircase when you enter was sooo nice!
My only negatives (this is the only mansion wedding I have been too so this may be the norm)
The cocktail hour was in numerous rooms, it felt too broken up to me! The ball room was alittle small! THe DJ was set up in the middle and if something was going on on the dance florr it was almost impossible to get out of the room. There was only 1 door out that led back to the house 1 other door led to the outside, we used that and then went in another door to use the bathrooms!

Re: Deseversky Center and nassau county museum

I went to check out the Nassau County Museum of Art in Roslyn. I loved the site and I thought it would be great to get married in the garden and have photographs taken near the Calders. Two of the turnoffs for me was that the reception has to be held in the tent and the Museum is not really open to you and your guests. You do have to be a member of the Museum in order to use the site (membership I think starts at $50 annually).
