Re: Honey Moon - Cancun.. help

we stayed at the Moon palace, itw as 20 minutes from cozumel, we had a hot tub for two in our room , a balcony with a view of the ocean, but there is only one disco, and cancun was 20 minutes away, beach palace or cancun palace are right on the beach and in the hotel disrtict of cancun and your all inclusive is good at all of the palaces, so you can hotel hop, but Im not sure about those rooms, if they are as nice as Moon Palaces, its worth checking into though, Beach Palace has a great beach, great food, we spent a day there and had a great time, its so close to all of the clubs, senor frogs, coco bongos, carlos and charlies, on the flip side, Playa Del carmen is an amazing place, tons of bars and resturants on teh beach, we spent a few days there and said when we go back, we are staying there, BUT we didnt check out any rooms, so I odnt know how nice they were, my guess is a travel agent should be able to find you a nice room. Im probably not much help, but if you have any questions, please FM me! Good luck!

Re: Honey Moon - Cancun.. help

My sis stayed at Fiesta Americana too right in teh hotel district a few years ago, she said the rooms were really nice and service was great. Im suggesting all inclusives to ya, which you may not even need, especialy if you'll be off the resort alot, you wouldnt even get your money's worth, soory Im not much help.

We're going to stay at Palace's Aventura Spa Resort in May. Why don't you look into them as well??? It looks beautiful and it's an adults only resort. Good luck!

Re: Honey Moon - Cancun.. help

We went to Cancun 2 yrs ago and stayed at the Cancun Palace, Its all inclusive and right in the middle of everything, has a great beach, pools, the rooms weregreat, balcony, ocean view. They have rooms w/jacuzzis (not sure about suites.)
All the clubs were nearby, buses come along the strip like every 10 min so you never have to worry about getting anywhere.

Re: Honey Moon - Cancun.. help

I've been to Cancun twice. Once for 1 week, all inclusive, and once for 2 weeks.(neither of which times were spring break) Let me warn you about a few things.

Oasis SUCKS!
I stayed there for 2 weeks, and it was horrible. The staff was uncooperative, rude, and the hotel itself had rediculous rules such as 'You cant bring food into the hotel', 'You can't bring in a 6 pack of beer', and 'We can search your bags when you come in'. The pool was so hot, I mean like 110F or so. It hurt your skin to be in it, and they'd never turn on the cold water, so the pool was blistering hot. Another thing about the pool, all the tiles were broken on the bottom, and it managed to rip our feet to shreads. I would never stay there again, even if it was free.

Secondly on the subject of Cancun itself. I don't see it as much of a honeymoon destination. All there is to do in Cancun is drink, for the most part. Everyone there is looking to hookup, it's kind of a big singles bar. You can guarentee to be hit on at least 100 times a night, and you'd be smart to stay with your FH at all times to avoid this.

If you are determined to go to Cancun, make sure you visit the Mayan ruins, the best of which is Chichen Itza. It was so awesome to see what people built hundreds of years ago, and to be able to stand at the top of the huge pyramid, and think about what went on at that very spot years ago. (pictures below are looking down from the top, and the pyramid itself)

Either way, good luck with your choice. BUT DON'T STAY AT OASIS!

Neither did I, till they took my friend's six pack, and tried to complain we were bringing in water, and not buying there bottles for $2 a piece.

It was the regular Oasis, but I still wouldn't trust it at all. I have heard GREAT things about all the Palace hotels, but they are not near the bars. (not an hour away, but the bus is kinda annoying to ride for long distances)

Here's a link to a map of the Cancun hotel zone. I'd say it was 30 minutes to downtown bars by bus from Oasis. (Meaning Dady'O, etc)

Here's a link to a messageboard, you might find reviews of hotels on it. Here

Re: Honey Moon - Cancun.. help

I second the Moon Palace. I stayed at the Cancun Palace when I went, but we also hotel hopped because of the chain thing. Moon is alot nicer than Cancun Palace and has like 7 restaurants right there in the hotel. It has more of a romantic HM feel to it. We went to the club there too.

Go to Cancun palace for the easy access to the beach and a bit more of a party scene. Stay at Moon palace for the seclusion and romance. Although Cancun palace does have rooms with Jacuzzi's (and some fairly nice ones at that) I still think Moon is better. It's bit further from where everything is 'happening' so to speak but really just a short cab ride away.

If you go to the Cancun Palace and you really want to party -- make sure you sign up for the 'Senor Frog's Bar Leaping Tour' -- just know that while they take you everywhere in a frog shaped bus while pouring 'tequila' down your throat -- at the end of the night they just drop you at La Boom and you have to fend for yourself to get back to the hotel in a drunken stupor!!!

I have stayed at the Moon Palace and it was wonderful. Every room has a jacuzzi tub and a huge marble shower.
