Did anyone not 'fall in love' with their dress?

Do you just 'like' it alot? Did you NOT cry when you found the one? Did you just think it flattered you well and said eh, it'll do and not put SO much emphasis on the importance of it because it's just one day anyway? I don't think I'm going to have that infatuated feeling over a dress.... do I really have to in order to find 'the one'? Or would that mean I am settling?

ETA: Ciminok - don't yell at me!!

Re: Did anyone not 'fall in love' with their dress?

I loved my dress, but I didn't cry when I put it on. It was one of the first ones I put on, and I ended up trying on about 25 dresses after that anyway. I kept going back to that first one, though, and that's how I knew it was the dress for me.

Not everyone is going to have the same reaction. Don't worry if you aren't reduced to tears. It might still be THE dress for you.

Re: Did anyone not 'fall in love' with their dress?

Don't settle for a dress and don't give up. I unfortunatly didn't listen to this great piece of advice. I tried on a bunch of dresses probably over 100...with out that feeling. There was always something about the dress, I didn't like. So after looking for a month and a half I bought a dress my dad loved. The dress ended up coming in early...and I was disappointed. I just bought another dress that I love. If I had kept looking and not setteled..I would have saved myself a lot of greif and a ton of money. The dress you pick should feel perfect for you!!! Don't rest until you have found a dress that will make you fell happy. Good luck with your search...you'll find what you are looking for.

Re: Did anyone not 'fall in love' with their dress?

I did not cry at first. I was just so excited to try on all these dresses and just like kmcwed, I tried on about 25-30 dresses but kept comparing it to the first one I tried on. The time I did cry was when she put the veil on me, gave me the bo-k of flowers and took me to the end of the shop and then had me walk to my mom who was sitting down. She started to fill up and then it hit me that this is what it will be like. I got caught up in the moment. lol.

Re: Did anyone not 'fall in love' with their dress?

I agree with alot of the girls- you will know when it is the one. I didn't cry when i put it on but i did feel complete as a bride when i did have it on after trying on a dozon or so. My mom looked at me and she knew it was the one. Mom's really always do know best. Follow your heart- some girls cry some are breathless and others just know its the one! You know yourself and you will know its the one. The worst thinkg to do is 2nd guess, always go with your gut :)

Re: Did anyone not 'fall in love' with their dress?

i just liked my dress i cant say i fell in love with it and i definately didnt cry when i had it on - but it fits my theme and i am told it looks really flattering on me so i said what the hell and that is the one i have ( i never tried it on before hand - i ordered it from a picture i saw online ) first time i even saw it upclose was when it came into the bridal shop and it was already mine all paid for upfront so i am stuck with it even if i didnt like it -
it is nice - i really think too much stress is put into picking the perfect dress - good enough is kind of how i feel about it
guess it is just me

Re: Did anyone not 'fall in love' with their dress?

From the moment I first saw a picture of my dress I knew it was the one, when I first got it I had second thoughts, and now I'm so happy that I stuck with my inital reaction. So you can see I was pretty all over the place with emotions, but I didn't cry.

Re: Did anyone not 'fall in love' with their dress?

I didn't cry but my sister and my mother did. It was the first dress I put on so my mom made me try on 5 other dresses just to make sure. Meanwhile everyone in the shop kept coming by and saying,'Your going to buy the first one you tried on right!' Yup! I sure did.

Re: Did anyone not 'fall in love' with their dress?

When I bought my dress last week, I loved the way it looked. Did I cry? No. but my mother was there and confirmed that it looked great on me. I don't know if I'd ever cry over a dress either. JMO

Re: Did anyone not 'fall in love' with their dress?

I did fall in love with the first dress that I tried on. I cried a little - I'm not sure if it was just overwhelming trying on my first wedding dress or that the dress was so beautiful. Just to be sure, I still continued to search in case I found something else that would give me that feeling and look as perfect as that gown. After trying on about 30 dresses, I went back to first one and bought it last week.

Re: Did anyone not 'fall in love' with their dress?

I definately don't think it's settling. When I got my dress I didn't cry and I didn't fall in love with it. It looked very pretty on and the price was great. Just follow your heart and you won't go wrong.

Re: Did anyone not 'fall in love' with their dress?

I personally find dress shopping to be very overwhelming. The first few dresses were fun because it was like playing dress-up, but then I started getting really critical of each dress and the joy kind of left the experience. I was supposed to go back to Kleinfelds today (didn't because of the snow) to try/buy a dress I had tried on a few months ago. I loved it at the time but I wanted to keep looking and make sure there was nothing better. Every dress I've tried since doesn't give me the same feeling, so I'm pretty sure this is The One. I just hope I love it as much as I remember, otherwise I'm back to square one!

Re: Did anyone not 'fall in love' with their dress?

Nope no tears for me, I could not decide on which 1 out of the three.

My mom, wanted me to spend more $$$-But, I thought to myself, it is only one day and the dress flattered me. Where was I going wrong. I am still waiting for it to come in March.....

I am dying to try in on again!!!
