Tipping questions (yet again)

For those not yet married, are you tipping just the Maitre'D or are you also giving money for the wait staff?

For those that are married-what did you do and how much?

Re: Tipping questions (yet again)

on the paper I got, we are charged a 18% service fee (which they made out to be like it was the waitstaffs' salary)....and for the maitre'D...I've heard from $1 or 2 all the way up to $4...at 150 guests (or more!) at $2 a head...that's $300!!!!

Re: Tipping questions (yet again)

I was told $2-4 per person... maybe the 18% service fee is for the rest of the staff... maybe it is just a way our halls charge us more...

Re: Tipping questions (yet again)

For me, MaitreD has a separate amount included in the price of the total amount. The tip also is an included line item and that goes to the wait staff, etc. I specifically asked if I should tip any additional amount and they said 'No', explaining that is why they price the way that they do.

All places are different. The only vendor that I specifically asked for clarification was our venue, all other vendors I am going to figure out what I feel is appropriate myself...
