Re: I just bought a crockpot, but need some recipes..
Pot Roast:1 bottom/top or rump roast
1 can cream of mushroom soup
1 envelope of Beefy Onion or Onion Soup Mix
That's it!!
Put all above ingrediants into crockpot and slow cook on high for 4-5 hrs or on low for 8 hrs. After about 2-3 I usually add peeled and cubed potatoes right on top of the roast for the rest of the cooking time.
Do not stir or touch meat (it will break apart after slow cooking for a while). The juices mix with the soups and make a terrific gravy. Good luck!

It's a NY Times Bestseller, it has everything, Breakfast foods, breads, soups, stews, chillis, Main Dishes, Vegaetables, Deserts, Beverages etc.
I never dreamed you can make as much with your crockpot, till I got this book at my shower, I use it all the time!

I have, no joke, like 10 (that i buy at my job for like $1, new)Do a search on-line too, they are tons of FREE recipes there.
The posibilities are endless with crockpots. So mindless, no burning (just don't over fill or will overflow when the food expands and liquifies)
You can make side dishes, main, appetizers, desserts.
Experiment!!!

Cindy,Last night I made the pepper steak from the Fix it and Forget it cookbook. It was so good. My DH ate it all up. The only thing is, you will probably need to add a little more cornstarch than was recommended.

Re: I just bought a crockpot, but need some recipes..
Jodi - How funny! I was going to post on here that I made my first meal from that cookbook last night too. I madeChicken Ala king. I made it because it was easy and I decided to do it last minute. I cooked it on the high setting for 3 hours. It was good. My husband enjoyed it. The only thing is, I am not a big fan of cooking with campbells soups added in. I had to add cream of chicken soup to it. It was good though.

I had the cheesy mashed potatoes from the Fix it and Forget it book and they were fabulous! I don't have the book yet, waiting to see if I get it from FI's aunt at my shower (she is the one who raves about it). She even said you can make desserts and drinks in a crockpot?!

I have the Betty Crocker one, but haven't made anything from it yet. I was thinking of trying the Sweet Potatoes and Applesauce recipe this weekend. DH loves sweet potatoes. The Fix It and Forget It book sounds great, too. I'll have to get it.
Now I'm hungry....

Re: I just bought a crockpot, but need some recipes..
I just wanted to add that my first two crock pot meals were a success! I made the beef stew and the savory lentil soup (from the Betty Crocker cookbook), and both meals came out delicious!I LOVE having the crock pot now...I don't know how I've lived without one for so long!
