BMs with different dresses

My bridal party comes in all shapes and sizes and I am thinking of picking a color, fabric and designer and letting my BMs chose their dress. Has anyone done this? If so, I would love to see pictures! Also, are certain designers better than others for this sort of thing?

Re: BMs with different dresses

I'm doing this. I picked Dessy/After Six and my girls can pick any matte satin dress in Espresso. I have the same issue as you and I found that Dessy/After Six had the largest selection of dresses and colors and were affordable. I really liked Bari Jay too but they didn't come in my color.

Good Luck!

This is one dress that a BM picked so far:

Re: BMs with different dresses

I am doing this too. I have 3 BMs who live out of state, so I thought it would be easier to get the dresses from Davids Bridal (there is Davids near each one of my BMs) and we picked the color Black.

They can pick out of 8 or 9 different styles. Here they are below:

My BM dresses from Davids

Re: BMs with different dresses

i had the same problem - i solved it buy having the dresses custom fitted - that let the gals pick different things that would fit their body type - like darting and sleeve lenght - etc

Re: BMs with different dresses

I am also having the same problem. And I also really wanted to try to find a dress my girls could wear more than once. Ideally, I wanted 5 things:

- tea length
- light pink
- separates
- a variety of tops to pick from including some with sleeves
- a place close to all my BMs so they could try them on and order them

I found all that at Eden Bridals so now we just have to go shopping to try them on! I think I want all the girls to stick with the chiffon ruffle skirt in pink, and then they can choose whichever chiffon coordinating top they feel most confortable with. :o)

Re: BMs with different dresses

We're doing this also. I picked the color - black...and my BMs selected 5 of their favorite dresses from various designers. We're just waiting on trying them on and deciding. As long as they are they same material and length...I'd rather they feel comfortable than adhere to conformity.

ETA: They found Dessy & After6 to have the most styles and colors. Jim Hjelm was another favorite.

Re: BMs with different dresses

We are doing the same thing with after six satin in burgandy...the MOH actually picked the dress above!

It's nice but be prepared to bug them to make a decision...

Re: BMs with different dresses

I was recently in a wedding and the bride did this- she picked out a few different tops and a few different bottoms all in the same material and color from WToo. It was great because we all got to pick the top and bottom that we liked the best on us. It was nice to have that option!

Re: BMs with different dresses

I'm another bride on the 'let your BM pick their own style' band wagon! I picked a color at David's and let the girls do what they wanted...the only deviations I have are: my MOH is in a different color, one BM didn't like the tops they had so she ordered fabric and had one made, and one BM that is going to be VERY pregnant found a dress she liked elsewhere so we matched the color the best we could.

Re: BMs with different dresses

Thats what I am doing. I went with impression they have a pretty good selection of seperates. I picked 3 different skirts and they get to pick out the tops.

I am behind in ordering though. I am starting to panic a little.

Re: BMs with different dresses

love the idea of wearing styles that everyone feels comfortable in. its easier than finding a dress that everyone will look good in

Re: BMs with different dresses

My mom is making the dresse (6!) so we just brought some material and told them to get patterns of dress they liked.

One of my BM's is an Orthodox Jew, so she'd need something highnecked and long sleeved, and the dresses I was gonna pick out wouldn't have fit that.

Re: BMs with different dresses

I am- I jsut posted the pics and the topic is still on the first page- 'Finally ordered BM dresses. Wanna see?'

The pics are all there and the colors will be differnet or similar shades of orange. I did not want the same exact color.
