Gift For Baby's First Christmas

I rarely post on this board, but I thought it would be the best place for this question - I am a first-time aunt and I absolutely adore my niece. She is one of the brightest spots in my life and I just love to see her and watching her grow

She was born in June, so obviously this is her first Christmas. I want to get something/make something really special for her, but I am at a creative loss. For all the mommies or mommies-to-be, do you have any suggestions on something really special that your child has received and/or that you would do for a loved one?

Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks!

Re: Gift For Baby's First Christmas

I too am an Aunt to a beautiful baby girl...this is her first Christmas also! I bought her a special (baby's first Christmas ornament) and a few books and a GS to Toys R Us (so Mommy can buy what she wants or needs) I plan on buying the baby and ornament each year!! I think it will be a GREAT keepsake for her!!

Re: Gift For Baby's First Christmas

I love the ornament idea. You can make it a tradition each year. Then when she gets bigger she can put her ornaments from each year on the tree. I used to love that when I was a kid, heck I still love it...when I go to my parents house I love finding them.

Re: Gift For Baby's First Christmas

I think an ornament is a really nice idea IF you plan to personalize it with something special from you, as the baby's aunt. Otherwise, I can't tell you how many 'Baby's First Christmas' ornaments I got for Paul last year...the idea tends to get over done IMO.

I have a lot of new babies to buy for this year, and I decided to get some different things, assuming that family members or godparents would choose something more 'keepsake' like.

I got each baby an aqua play mat (which is fantastic for tummy time!) with a Christmas bib and Christmas board book.
