I am having such a hard time finding a DJ!!!

I have seen a couple of people and I don't get a great vibe from anyone yet. This is the one vendor that I am having the most problems with. It sucks!!!

O yea the DJ is turning out to be the absolute worst, becasue you can't literally SEE their work, and they are probably the most important vendor of the day, bad music=bad party..........UGHHHHHH

I was the same way ... see DanceJock in deerpark you can see their videos and see how they interact with the crowd... I also heard good things about Tommy tunes...

But take you time meet with the MC and see if you like them ~ Trust your vibes, you find a great one !!!

I highly reccommend Bravo Sound International. They did my e-party and I have seen them many times and they are AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!! People were calling me up after my e-party raving about the DJ. I also booked them for my wedding in addtion to a band. FM me if you want their contact info.

Are you looking for a certain kind of DJ? Are you looking for an entertainment company or just someone to play the music and MC for you and not put on a show? Are you looking for any specific type of music more so than others? Give us more info...we'll help!

I don't want a cheesy DJ with give aways and I need one that is going to play a mix of calypso, r&b, hiphop and salsa, but I also need an emcee.

This was the easiest and most fulfillign decision, we went with Nick from Dash of Class. I dont think we could have found anyone better (personally) There are a few posts on the know about them. There wesite is dashofclass.com I saw them at a wedding and they blew us away they are so professional and there quality is even better. They do this whole montage deal./ It is where they send there own guy to take pictures of your ceromony and then throughout the reception the play parts of these huge digital tv's and also during dinner they do 4 slide shows, one of you grouing up till now same of hubby one of you guys together and another of family and friends. I hav been to two weddings with this and everyone is always speachless. If you have any questions email me. [email protected]'

No matter what and who you go with makesure they are right for you they are the biggest part of what your reception will be like. If you cant go to a show see if they can do a presentation at home for you our guys did.

We just booked Music by Michael. I met with him a few weeks ago and was instantly amazed by how neat everything was in his office. Then he went through his whole system with me. Everything is computerized. There is a password protected section of his website where you can search songs, listen to clips and input Play and Do NOt Play lists. His set up is VERY neat (no wires, signage, etc) and he gave us a good price. I guess his anal-ness impressed us the most

I also met with another DJ who made me sit on a sofa that was so far away from his desk that I could hardly even see him! I met with him in the city one evening in I guess what was rented office space and it just scared the heck out of me because I was by myself and the place was deserted!! Also, he asked me several times if I had read the materials he had sent to me--which I had and kept telling him I had. Finally I yelled back YES, I READ It, Jeez, what was it homework?? I think he was a little taken aback but said that the couple who was there before me lied and told him that they had, but then the guy started laughing halfway through the meeting because he really hadn't. This was a reputable DJ often recommended on this site.

Anyway, the point of this loooong post (sorry) is that you just either mesh with someone or you don't. I think you just need to meet with people until you find the right one. I have total confidence in Michael.

I booked Perfect Parties in Smithtown. They are really good plus the owner is a friend of mine.

USUK...isn't Michael great? He just made us feel so at ease, and FH said the same thing about how freakishly neat his office is (and I mean that in the best way possible). We booked him on the spot. Didn't even look at any other DJs...just whipped out the checkbook and signed the agreement.

I'm sorry but I have to recommend against this DJ due to a bad experience I had with them personally and going by the type of music you want played. Alixgirl - you have FM.

ETA: Correction: I am very sorry -- I did NOT have a bad experience with this vendor -- it was another vendor with a VERY similar name. Please excuse my confusion.
