the invitations of my dreams are nightmares! long!

Okay, so i was so happy last Thursday to pick up my invites from the calligrapher and send them out that afternoon. I actually felt like I could take a little break from all of the planning mayhem... NOT!
Here's the deal, I fell in love with them when I saw them. They are pretty because they are a tri-fold with a pocket inside to put the reception card, replies, directions etc.. Amazing paper (very thick).There is no outer or inner envelope. The invite is pretty much all in one.
So the place that I had originally ordered them from had a wonderful idea, Let's have the calligrapher do a seperate address card that she will adhere to the invite to give it the layered effect that it has inside. I asked if it will hold through the mail.The woman had said ABSOLUTELY! Well long story short, the invites are all coming back to my house with no address card on them and big RETURN TO SENDER stamped across the front.- 1/2 of my guest list didn't get them. My Grandparents only got the address card in the mail-no invite.Very embarrassing!
The place were I got them from is telling me to call all of my guests to see if they got them..I had already called everyone once. It's a little tacky to call your guests on a daily basis to see if they recieved your invitation to your wedding- Ya Think. Who does that??? I am supposed to go to the place tomorrow and I really don't know how to handle this. What if they don't compensate me. I have been sick to my stomach for the last few days and all that I want is for the problem to be rectified and not to be charged any more money. What would you do/say?
Oh and I don't want anyone to think that I am bashing the vendor who I had used- It's just theraputic to write about this horrible experience and to hopefully get lots of advice-The work was beautiful!! I even told them a million times before I left there. It just didn't work and I just want my guests to recieve the the invites already, in one piece...

I would not call your guests again. This is the fault of the place, have them redo them all and mail them again. Worse thing that can happen is someone gets 2 invitations, that is better than (like you said) calling them on a daily basis.

If I was one of your guests and got 2 invitations for that reason I would think it was funny. (even though I know it is not- hang in there!)
