Just got home from two dress places....VENT!

Ok, so I went to The Wedding Center in Commack about a month ago and tried on dresses and wound up torn between two. So I went back today to look at them again and check out BM dresses. Well the two dresses were nothing like I remembered them and I didn't really like my 'second' choice dress....sigh! So I went downstairs to look at the BM dresses, I decided on After Six and Dessy in Espresso and I'll let my girls pick their own dress. When I told this to the saleswoman she was like 'Ohhh' very condescendingly! Another sigh.

I then went to Bridal Suite in Centereach to comparison shop. BM dresses were about the same price but bridal gowns were defintely cheaper at The Wedding Center. I have to say that when I walked in there were 3 employees gathered around a magazine and not one of them lifted their head-up to acknowledge me. I had to interrupt to ask for help. I asked to be directed to the after six and dessy dresses and the girl said they're all mixed in I have to know what style and I told HER that I'm letting the girls pick their own....she said well without style #'s I can be here all night pulling dresses for you. HELLO, isn't it part of your job to know the dresses? So I venture to the bridal gown side and same deal, I ask for Maggie Sottero, they're all scattered. I pick one and try it on, it had a corset back and she says I'm not lacing it up all the way we'll be here all night, again HELLO isn't that your job?? The dress was gorgeous in any case but it was so dirty and stained and was missing beading. I noticed that most of their dresses were like that and I didn't want to put another one on my body. Sorry so long, just feeling discouraged with shopping.

Re: Just got home from two dress places....VENT!

When I went there I had the same experience at Bridal Suite. The one dress I liked was so dirty and even torn a little. One I looked at had a detachable train and the train was coming off so they would not even help us pin it so I could see how it looked. As we were leaving they asked if I would like to make an appt for the next time since I did not have one this time, and my mom turned to them and said we would not get her dress here if you paid us. We got no help at all and all you were interested in is how much we wanted to spend. She said I would rather take my money to some place else that wants it. And we left. Check out the bridal store in Rocky Point they do a bridal fashion show at the East Wind and all the women are great and really nice to deal with. They even said if they dont have the dress they can get it for me to try on.

Re: Just got home from two dress places....VENT!

I had a really good experience at BR in massapequa as far as service but I thought they were overpriced - was able to get my Maggie (Sarchi) for almost $300 less at bridesave.com. BR wanted $1095 with alterations capped at $250 not including bustle.

you should send a complaint to their home office and inform them of your experience. you are the customer and they are entitled to assist you when needed. i would have given those sales persons a piece of my mind.

Re: Just got home from two dress places....VENT!

I'm sorry they treated you so poorly!!

Some places that I had good experiences at were Lillettes (I worked with Gerri), Paradise Bridal (Vivienne) and Kleinfelds.

If they're not treating you well, then they don't deserve your business anyway!!

By the way - I Love After Six and Dessy!! Great choice!

Re: Just got home from two dress places....VENT!

I had almost the same experience. Actually i thought the girls in the bridal section at Commack were great but downstairs they were beyond rude!!! I don't care if they are cheaper i won't be back. Plus, while i was there a girl came in to try on her BM dress and was VERY unhappy!

Re: Just got home from two dress places....VENT!

I'm sorry you had a bad experience there. Their dresses (BM) are sorted by color. I never went to a place where they were sorted by manufacter. Maybe they can get different colored hangers or tags for each designer.

Re: Just got home from two dress places....VENT!

I started stressing over my dress a week ago. Thank God I found one I love this weekend. That being said I went to quite a few boutiques.

1) Bridal Reflections in Carle Place. The royal treatment and they even have a mock asile you can walk down surrounded by mirrors. A good experience but they are definitely over priced.

2) The Wedding Plaza in Baldwin. Good experience there. My sister purchased her gown there and had good results. They are not as fancy as BR but they get the job done and the gown is fairly priced. We worked with Carmela. I am purchasing my gown there.

3) Lilettes Baldwin around the corner from The wedding plaza. They were very helpful there, but they didn't have the dress I wanted.

4) Flowerama in Elmont. I almost purchased a dress here then had second thougths on the dress. They were very helpful and professional.

Other places are in Westchester close to where I live now.

Best of luck and believe me, you will find the dress you love. Give it time. :)

Re: Just got home from two dress places....VENT!

I'm sorry to hear that you are having such a ruff time with customer service.
I just wanted to say, how shocked I am the Bridal Suite in Centereach is still open. I keep reading all these bad reviews.
My aunt was married 15 years ago and purchased all the BM and MOH's dresses there.
I will never forget that place. It was the only time I ever saw anyone make my aunt cry and my mother yell.. It was the worst treatment. They cause''d nothing but problems from the word go, and yet 15 years later they still manage to be in business??
How in the hell do they do it???

Anyway, just had to say that!!

Better luck with your dress search. Some of the places the ladies suggested, I frequented as well when I was a bride and they are wonderful!!

Re: Just got home from two dress places....VENT!

I am sorry about your frustrations. I had great experiences at Lillettes and bridal reflection. got my gown at lidia's.

I went to commack center to, and my wedding gown was cheaper, but they told me alterations will start around $150 for my dress I got my dress for close to the same price and alterations (WITH BUSTLE) cap at $150. So watch price of dress and ask about alterations.

Re: Just got home from two dress places....VENT!

I had a bad experience @ The Commack Wedding Center, and ended up at The Bridal Garden in Bethpage, and got the rest of the dresses @ The Wedding Plaza in Bladwin, they were both wonderful to work with. Why stress yourself out about these places? This is my new philosophy, I do not like to get stressed out anymore about the wedding. These stores let me bring 2 of my wedding party to try on dresses till whenever we wanted, and they were nice the whole time. Good luck in your search!

Re: Just got home from two dress places....VENT!

Sorry to hear about what happened. I hate being made to feel like I'm some sort of 'inconvenience' to the people who are paid to help me!!!!

Have you tried the Macy's Bridal Salon at Smithhaven Mall? The women there were super sweet to me and attentive without being too pushy.

Re: Just got home from two dress places....VENT!

I was at the Bridal Suite in Centereach yesterday too!!!!

Yes I know what you mean about them being not overly helpful there. BUT I have had a very positive experience with them. They have my Maggie there. My BM's dresses are ordered through there.

Jackie and Beverly are the two that have helped me.

Sorry you had such a bad experience there.

BTW which Maggie did you try on?
