How old is too old for a flowergirl and ring bearer??

I want my cousins to be in my BP. Jessie will be 10 and Jake will be 8. I have read so mant conflicting 'etiquette' rules about ages of children in RB and FG roles. My mom says Jessie should be a Jr BM instead of FG (to include her with the grown up stuff)...but Jessie WANTS to be different and be a FG! Will they be too old??

It's your wedding...do what you want! My FG will be 7 (almost 8) at the time of the wedding...we do not have a RB.

One thing I HARDLY went by is 'etiquette rules'

Do whatever you feel...

My FGs were 3 and 7
My RBs were 4 and 8
My Jr. BM was 11 and
My Jr. GM was 11

My 11 year old cousin is WAY too big to be a flower girl so we made her a Jr. Bridesmaid

Edited to say that Jessie can STILL wear something different but doesn't have to throw petals or have a FG basket or anything like that.

Actually my friend had an 11 year old sister at the time she got married, she wore a TOTALLY different dress and she called her a Jr. MOH - I thought that was cute and her flowers was a kissing bell, not a bo-k or a basket! Something to think about!

I think 9 is usually too old to be a flower girl or ring bearer but it also depends on the kids' size. They are supposed to be cute. When they look or act too old, promote them to jr. BM or GM

never too old. My FG and stepdaughter will be 10! but she has always had it in her heart to be jsut that- our FG. Our other FG will be 8 and our RB will be 9.

My FG will be 10 at my wedding. Im not going to put her in a 'little girl' dress but something appropiate for a FG her age.

Thanks everyone, I think I am going to see how I feel when it gets closer...and see how much they grow! I will dress them age appropriate of course...no little short pants if he is too tall (which I dont think he will be!)and see how they are comfortable too. If she wants a basket and rose petals thats fine with me...but if she wants a bo-k thats cool too!

I think that is fine... it is your day.. My FG is going to be 6 and my ring bearers will be 7..

MY FLOWERGIRLS WILL BE 3 AND 5. MY RINGBEARER WILL BE 5 TOO. OUR OTHER BOY WILL BE 10, I THOUGHT HE MAY BE TOO OLD FOR A RING BEARER, SO WE MADE HIM A JUNIOR USHER.

Both mine will be 8. I don't care because they are my family. I doubt anyone either will say anything because they will look so cute!
