Ready, Set, Wed…but first check your calendar to make sure the date you have your heart set on is one that will not only work for you…but for everyone you invite.
Long Weekends and Holidays: Holidays usually hold special significance for everyone and they give you and your guests some much needed extra time to travel, party and relax (after the fact). However, you need to consider that, that may mean extra traffic and extra costs, since most places, vendors and vendors then to charge more....and, it may mean some of your guests may have made other family plans and won’t easily be able to attend.
Dates With Personal Significance: Family birthdays; anniversaries even office parties or local festivals/parades may not be the best choice… as those on the invite list may have other, conflicting plans.
Mother’s Day and Father’s Day: While both are already great commemorative occasions, and may hold a lovely and heartfelt sentiment…it’s best to check with mom and dad, on both sides, to get their approval first. Also, you may also want to consider the implications of having your anniversary on such an already commemorative day, especially if you plan on becoming parents.
Religious and Cultural Feasts and Celebrations: Once again, this date may conflict with family tradition and plans (often made well in advance).Furthermore, they may be additional rules, regulations and restrictions at your house of worship with regards to marrying during these religiously and culturally significant times.
Remembrance Days: These historically meaningful days such Veteran’s Day, or the anniversary of September 11th can either be a no-no if you are part of a military family or have lost someone. On the other hand, it could make your event more meaningful, especially if you include and incorporate a special and significant yet tasteful tribute .
Dates With “Negative” Overtones: For those who are very sensitive and/or superstitious…stay away from:

Dates With “Negative” Overtones: For those who are very sensitive and/or superstitious…stay away from:
- March 15th: The Ides of March (The date Julius Caesar was assassinated and typically considered and unlucky date)
- Friday the 13th (for obvious reasons)
- Leap Years (Considered bad luck by ancient Greeks and Romans for both weddings and Christenings)
